Dear Editor,

You must understand that, according to the ABLP, news is only important if it paints a positive view of their administration.

News like the debacle at Clareview is not considered worthy of reporting because it exposes the incompetence of the ABLP administration.

Give them another term in office, and they will muzzle ALL news media that does not heap praise on Gaston and his minions.

To be forewarned is to be forearmed. Beware of despots!

    She recommends that Observer Media should do exactly what it did in 2004, when one of its founders stated that his objective was to remove the then administration from office.

    “The Board of Observer needs to sit and think about the direction going forward. What happens during the campaign? What happens after the campaign if there is a winning candidate who is part of a winning party? Or what happens if you have a winning candidate who is part of a losing party, or losing candidate and losing party? All of those will have implications for the company,” Brann said.

    “Immediately, a clear and concise statement from Serpent indicating he is an owner and programme host, but HE WILL BE REMOVED FROM PROGRAMMING AND NEWSROOM DECISIONS, and BE SEEN TO BE REMOVED from these programming decisions, should happen. And then he should let his word be his bond.

    “The Daily Observer itself needs an EDITORIAL STATEMENT and they need to RECOMMIT TO FAIR AND BALANCED NEWS PROCESS and they need to BE SEEN TO BE DOING THAT regardless of where the owner sits and what their editorial i.e. their opinion is,” Brann added.

NEVER HAVE I HEARD SUCH CONDUCT ON ANY RADIO STATION IN ANTIGUA BARBUDA, ESPECIALLY THE TUESDAY MORNING PROGRAM THUNDER AND LIGHTNING!   6. If any citizen of Antigua & Barbuda agree with this move by the desperate ABLP to try and curtail freedom of speech from the media, then PLEASE give up your Antiguan Nationality and apply for a North Korean or similar country citizenship where your freedom of speech is diminished. Ouch!

  10. Why do ABLP Candidates and supporters resort to personal attacks when confronted with the truth? Please wake up and realize that you too and eventually Gaston, will be sold to the highest bidder!! Another term of ABLP will not only muzzle news media, it will muzzle personal rights and they (mainly Gaston and my cousin Chet) will sell off or prostitute what’s left of our Island Nation!! Just like Scar in the Lion King movie, all will be given away and Pride Rock (Antigua and Barbuda) will have nothing left to offer!! Wake up people!!!

Not too long ago a bill was being considered to not only deprive Antiguans and Barbudans of their freedom of speech, but the right to shut down at will any media opposition they deem “threatening. “Just observe how personal these people get when darkness comes to light. For now, it seems to have gone away, but beware. Lest we forget: a peaceful protest was greeted with tear gas and rubber bullets; we were deprived of a job, students were denied the right to an education, we could not go to places without a jab that is now being called the largest genocide in human history, as millions fall dead. Take time to think,someone said, it’s a source of power.
