Former Barbuda MP Arthur Nibbs urged voters to “make the change” and delivered a wide-ranging critique of current leadership while endorsing Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate Kendra Beazer during a political meeting in Barbuda.
Speaking to supporters ahead of the April 30 general election, Nibbs framed the contest as a decisive moment for the island’s future. “This is a very serious and sober election… make the change and you’re going to see this place move by leaps and bounds,” he said.
He made a direct appeal to voters to support Beazer, telling the audience, “When you go down there on the 30th day of this month, vote no other way but for Kenja Chamberlain Beezer.”

Throughout his address, Nibbs criticized the current Barbuda Council and parliamentary representation, arguing that key sectors have deteriorated. He pointed to healthcare challenges, including the need for residents to travel to Antigua for basic services, and said improvements could be made to allow more treatment to take place on the island.
“When I see the patients have to go over there for dialysis, I feel it for them… we are going to have our own dialysis unit right here,” he said.
He also raised concerns about waste management and environmental conditions, claiming poor handling of landfill operations had led to worsening public health conditions. According to Nibbs, better coordination with national agencies would be required to address those issues and improve living standards.
Infrastructure was another key focus. Nibbs criticized the condition of roads and questioned the management of public funds tied to roadworks, while arguing that stronger governance and planning could accelerate development across the island.
Looking ahead, he outlined a broader vision for Barbuda’s economic transformation. He referenced plans to establish the island as a port of entry, allowing goods and passengers to travel directly without routing through Antigua. He said such a move would expand commercial activity and create new opportunities for residents.

“Our government has already passed the law to declare Barbuda a port of entry… what we have to do now is build out the facility,” Nibbs said.
He also highlighted ongoing and potential investments in renewable energy, noting Barbuda’s push toward increased use of alternative energy sources, with a long-term goal of transitioning to fully green energy generation.
Tourism and air access featured prominently in his remarks, with Nibbs pointing to plans to extend the island’s runway to accommodate larger aircraft and increase direct international connections. He said this would bring jobs and position Barbuda as a more competitive destination in the region.
“A big plane is going to land and take off right here in Barbuda… more jobs,” he said.
Nibbs also emphasized education and training opportunities, encouraging residents to take advantage of access to tertiary education, including programmes available through institutions in Antigua, as part of a broader push to build human capital.
He repeatedly returned to the theme of generational change, arguing that younger leadership, combined with closer alignment with central government, could unlock development that has been delayed for years.
“A vote for Kendra is a vote for progress… a better life for all the people in Barbuda,” he said.
The meeting formed part of the ABLP’s campaign push in Barbuda, with speakers urging residents to support Beezer as the party seeks to win the seat in the upcoming election.

Nibbs back Kendra to get his sort of pay off to assist Gaston in selling off Barbuda lands to white people so that he Kendra can ostensibly get his retirement box hand like Arthur nibbs, but Kendra that money that nibbs and you looking at is only going to last a minute, but the Barbuda lands in the hands of white monopoly capital domination and Gaston will be for a lifetime that you will shape barbudans black people as poor peasants working as maid and gardeners. Kendra where is your conscience?
We begin by holding Prime Minister Gaston Browne accountable for eight years of failed leadership. Pensioners and teachers are going unpaid, nurses still haven’t received their back pay, and our hospital is in disrepair—CT scan and MRI machines often don’t work. Senior doctors are also exploiting their positions, working private practices on top of public duties. Our roads are literally crumbling—the best effort is just a white line on a deteriorating street. Even the donated buildings—like the multipurpose center from China—are left to rot. Then, a $2 million car scandal breaks: government officials took cars paid for by the treasury, and despite calling out the dealer as corrupt, the same official went on to buy a Benz from that same dealer. There’s no accountability, and we still don’t know what happened to that $2 million—whether any of it helped Antigua, or if it was just pocketed. We keep paying taxes, seeing nothing in return, and it’s time for real change. It’s time to get Gaston Browne out and put in leadership that actually works for the people.
Mr. Nibbs, all of a sudden, you are outspoken when you were given the task to man the ship; you ran it on a reef.
We don’t want to hear from you.

All BPM do is WASTE MONEY on Court Cases and peddle LIES about CROWN Land, but thank God for the Privy Council:
“…the claimants have NO REALISTIC PROSPECT OF SUCCEEDING in their claim under section 9(1) of the CONSTITUTION!!!
“The Court found that the Appellants did NOT have a PERSONAL RIGHT of property in the leased land. Rather, the Land Act provided a SCHEME for the collective rights of Barbudan people as a class”

“Barbuda’s Representative Chides Residents for Dependency: (May 29, 2010, Antigua Daily Observer)
“Member of Parliament (MP) for Barbuda Trevor Walker yesterday lashed out at Barbudans for their dependence on the Barbuda Council.
Walker accused Barbudans of not doing enough for the sister-island while relying too heavily on subsidies from the central government in Antigua.
“It’s so amazing to me that 1,500 people cannot get together to try and organize themselves in a way that they can help themselves, and I take blame for that too,” he said. “All that we do is to go to this broke Barbuda Council that has no money, borrow everything that we want, and the same Barbuda Council depends on the central government every week every month for transfers. It’s just not sustainable.”
“At the end of the day, we cannot have it both ways. We cannot want to live the Antigua life and want to have the Barbuda lifestyle … and so let us wake up,” Walker said. “I mean this might cause me some political problems but at the end of the day, I want to be recorded as the person that moved the country forward in a positive way.”
The Barbudan MP also suggested that Barbudans have FAILED TO MAKE PROPER USE OF THEIR LAND to EMPOWER themselves.”
ALL THE WAY WITH KENDRA BEAZER ON ELECTION DAY!!!! BARBUDA IS READY!!!!
