PM publishes document to show salary increases for Cabinet Ministers and MPs

1. Read and understand

   • I actually support higher salaries for Antigua’s Ministers.

     In successful small countries like Singapore, government Minister pay is very high in order to prevent corruption and to ensure the best talent serves in government.

     While Antigua is not as advanced as Singapore yet, the reality is that as a country we should have a mature and realistic value-system that says those serving in senior-level government leadership deserve high salaries (including opposition MP’s).

     Over the long-run, Ministers that receive high salaries will perform better and focus 100% on the job of government service rather than doing ‘side businesses’.

     In summary, just copy Singapore.

2. The Prime Minister had to release this important information, because the political heat 🔥 is burning he backs%#e at present – there can be no more avoidance from this government.

   • Brix- Why continue to show you are an idiot? The document in question is available to all. Try and remember the opposition arguing they had just received the estimates and a weekend was not sufficient time for them to properly examine it. That was Dec 2023

         I totally agree. This document is showing absolutely nothing. It is not indicating that the parliamentarians’ salaries ‘were or were not included’ in the figures.
         GASTON, ABLP, TENMAN, JP, FERN ARE JUST A DECEITFUL AND LIARD BUNCH.

3. Really….? Mr PM, is this the best you could pulled up? What does the word “Estimate” mean? Presenting estimate as irrefutable evidence is like grasping at straws. I expected better from a man who purchased WIOC for $00.00

4. All UPP MINIONS….TABOR , BRIXTONIAN, AUDLEY etc. are haters of Hon. Gaston Browne. He will win all the elections in Antigua. You Guys will BARK like dogs in Opposition forever.

5. What the hell is wrong with the UPP Opposition Party. They should change Their names to THE COMPLAIN PARTY. These Guys are LAZY, DO NOT understand what goes on in Parliament.. Sick and tired of the UPP Opposition Party. Always looking for sympathy from the Public. Opposition do not deserve a salary much less an increase. Our Opposition are DUNCIBATS ( according to Lamon Newton) especially SERPENT.

6. Sorry to say it but we told you that they, the members of the UPP, are a dunce set of people. They do not have the level of education to understand the reading and understanding of a budget. They would not even understand a simple company’s financial statement such as a balance sheet(statement of financial position), a profit and loss statement(a statement of comprehensive income/loss), statement of cash flows. The only two that should be able to read and understand are Trevor Walker and Sherfield Bowen. These two gentlemen have the training . But then again, when you have not practice for years, you lose the touch. The opposition said that they needed more time to peruse the budget. They didn’t come to parliament to debate it and weeks later when they taught to be ready they had their own parliament. And still none of them delved into the estimate to scrutinize the figures and ask questions from the technocrats in the ministry. And now that the budget implementation is taking place they cry foul for being caught once again with their pants down. That is why Gaston Browne will always have the upperhand over them. They are not ready yet.

     You are so full of it. How many people in the labour government are accountants and financial analysts? Name me one? At least UPP has Trevor Walker and Sherfield Bowen. The labour government never follow the rules to give the opposition the legislated time to review the budgets and bills they bring to parliament. They play games talking about urgency. Gaston and Cutie want no debate or input from the opposition. That way they and you can say the opposition isn’t ready. For you people it is not proper governance but a game of deception. In the end it doesn’t matter as labour has the majority in parliament and the yeas will always have it.

   • In response to the uncalled for diatribes, from the ABLP acolytes, Gastonites and usual suspects (BTW, welcome back @ From The Sideline 👍🏾).

     I don’t know about the other UPP supporters that regularly communicate on these ANR threads, but for me, when I make my upskilled comments, you’ll notice and find that I want the best for my country; the hardworking citizens, and especially a leader that represents us, and shows Antigua & Barbuda in the best light.

     Whilst the ABLP sycophants ‘hang their hats’ on the so-called hatred of Gaston Browne, they know in their hearts that they are totally wrong; simply because all the country wants is someone a lot better and capable of leading us (including for ABLP supporters as well).

     Also, I did note – with some interest – the utter silence from Gastonites when I’d recommended one of their own members (Daryl Matthew’s) to take over from Gaston Browne, and was surprised that they did not respond. Was it because I’m highlighting the fact that the ABLP actually have someone a lot more capable of replacing Prime Minister Browne?

     Which proves my point all along, when I said that people like GILES; JP; Tenman; Dave Ray: From The Sideline, and all the other Gastonites are ACTUALLY putting Gaston Browne FIRST, before country. Fact!

     I look forward to their responses about this … but I very much doubt it, because they’ll resort to their usual uncouth verbosity and verbiage.

     BECAUSE THAT’S ALL THEY’VE GOT …

7. What does this prove? Does this show any date or stamp to authenticate it? It could have been created after the fact. Let’s not forget the Arthur Thomas’s appointment letter which Max Wurst delivered to parliament AFTER THE FACT, and then claim they followed the dictates of the law.
   I don’t believe anything this narcissistic, pathological liar says. He is the leader of the most clandestine, double-dealing ALP administration ever.
   While you’re at it DAWG, publish the WIOC information and tell that spineless Georges to quit stalling.
