UWI Launches Probe Into Sale Of Fake Degrees

1

The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, says it is currently investigating the sale of certificates purporting to be undergraduate and post graduate degrees conferred by the institution.

The University has condemned the actions of those involved, adding that the matter is quite concerning.

“We wish to advise employers, educational institutions and all others concerned to be vigilant and on the alert for these non-genuine documents,” a statement from the UWI read.

It has also advised those who come into possession of the counterfeit documents to report the matter to the Fraud Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

It noted that all certificates conferred by the University have security features to guarantee authenticity.

“We encourage any organisation in doubt of the legitimacy of degrees or certificates to contact our Examinations Sections for verification of same,” the statement continued.

The Examinations Sections can be contacted at: 876-935-8855-60 or email us at: [email protected].

  1. It might be time to take a look at the Doctorates and other degrees held by several of the so-called pastors and preachers in this country, especially those who claim to be apostles and bishops. Some of this needs to be carefully looked into.
