UPP says Labour Day event will go on; ALP operatives’ attempts to derail Ffreyes concert will not work
Attempts by Antigua Labour Party agents to derail the United Progressive Party’s celebration of Labour Day will not work, says Political Leader Jamale Pringle and MP Kelvin “Shugy” Simon, chair of the event’s planning committee.
Pringle and Simon are accusing Labour Party operatives of spreading false information regarding the engagement of performing artiste Armanii for tonight’s Ffreyes Beach event.
On April 25, 2025, the Political Leader signed a contract with Stardom Records LLC in Atlanta, Georgia, engaging Armanii for “Labor Day Celebration” on May 5, 2025, with a 50% deposit subsequently being remitted, as agreed.
Further, in keeping with the contract, airline tickets were bought online and dispatched to the relevant parties before advertising for the event began.
However, agents of the Antigua Labour Party were already proclaiming that Armanii would not appear even before the artiste withdrew from this contractual arrangement.
Therefore, consequent to his claim that he was not aware the Labour Day event is a political affair, the UPP will be seeking legal redress and recovery of monies paid.
The Party considers this a pathetic and shameful effort of the ALP’s agents to discredit the UPP and to divert our audience, as the Browne Administration recognizes that its support among the public is swiftly dwindling.
However, “the show will go on,” as the alternative headliner, Ayetian, is already on island and prepared to perform tonight at the UPP’s Ffreyes Beach event.

One would think in a contract there would be at least a financial penalty stated for breeching the contract. UPP continues to engage in “contracts” eg Royal Antigua sale (Wadadli Power Plant, projects highlighted during the so called fencing scandal), without a performance clause/penalty. This is not the first time the UPP has claimed an artists it plans to use was huffed by ABLP. Clearly with the foolish virgin (Shugy) involved nothing changes

Where is the performance clause in the Yada contract?
Produce it if there is one before you refer to contract clauses.

Yada is but one of many contracts signed by Gaston that he did not read before he placed his signature in the contract.

There’s information that many of them have children and grands who are employed through the Job Program for in excess of 6 years, who are technically considered unemployed. Not every contract includes stipulated/liquidated damages. It is not mandatory for a contract to be valid to have the remedy included. In fact, even if such remedy is included, the breaching party may sue because such remedy listed (liquidated/stipulated damages) in the contract may be punitive in nature and can not be enforced.
The contract was signed in the US, so that state’s court or federal court would have jurisdiction.
It is a unique matter as this is contract is for a unique subject, performance of a specific artist, which can not be easily determined the damages, and the preferred kind of remedies for these kind of matters (specific performance) can not ne utilized since the event date would have passed when papers are filed in court.
The nonnbreaching party which seems to be UPP will be able to recover restitution, incidental damages, and consequential damages.
If they are able to prove that ABLP interfere with their contract then UPP will be able to recover punitive damages for interference of economic advantage, intrusion into seclusion, etcetera. Not just punitive but specific and general damages.
UPP would best served if they took actions in the US courts, you will be able to recover more, and from a more professional court system.
I recommend to not put in a specific remedy in these kind of contracts that pertains to unique goods and services. Listen to experts people.

Entertainer Armani had to pull the plug on his scheduled shows over the weekend due to illness.
In his Instagram story, the “Haad” hitmaker shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed, hooked up to IVs and blood pressure monitors which he captioned with the praying hands emoji.
Armani’s management team, Stardom, apologized to his fans in a statement shared on Instagram.
The statement reads in part: “We regret to inform you that due to recent health issues, Armani was unable to perform at scheduled shows over the weekend. We understand this news is disappointing and share in your frustration.”
It continued: “Our priority is the artist’s recovery and well-being. We will be working to reschedule the performances. Further details will be shared soon.”
Before being hospitalized, Armani performed at Dream Weekend in Negril.
