United Progressive Party (UPP) Chair, D. Gisele Isaac, in a recent interview with Darren Matthew Ward on Twin Island Media, made strong statements regarding her role and integrity amidst ongoing criticisms following defections from the party.
Isaac firmly rejected any attempts to blame her for these developments, stating, “I am not going to take anybody’s shame or blame for myself. I will not do that.”
Isaac emphasized that she has consistently displayed both integrity and principle throughout her leadership, arguing that if others seek a scapegoat, she will not accept that position. “I have led by example,” she said, further adding that she has not exhibited the qualities of dishonesty or lack of integrity now being associated with the defections.
In response to accusations linking her to past election losses, Isaac was resolute in setting the record straight. “First of all, I didn’t preside over the loss in 2014. I did not,” she declared.
Isaac then pointed to her instrumental role in the party’s resurgence, highlighting the impressive turnaround from a one-seat victory and just over 14,000 votes in 2018, to nearly securing a win in the most recent election.
She questioned why the blame for past losses seemed to rest on her shoulders, yet she was not given credit for the party’s significant progress. “How is it that the blame is mine, but no credit is mine?” she asked.
Isaac further elaborated on the challenges the UPP faced in its comeback, citing the difficulty of mounting an effective campaign from 2020 until the official end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“You think it was easy to campaign from 2020 until COVID officially ended? To wage a virtual campaign because we were stopped from doing everything else?” she questioned, underscoring the effort it took to mobilize the party during that period.
She expressed frustration that while the UPP’s performance in the last general election and a subsequent by-election is praised, her role is seemingly overlooked. “How is it that Gisele Isaac has no responsibility there?” she asked.
Isaac reiterated that any misbehavior or lack of principle within the party should not be attributed to her. “If people behave badly and show themselves lacking in integrity and principle, that’s not on account of Gisele Isaac,” she affirmed.
Instead, Isaac stands by her own integrity and principles, living by the example she sets for others. “I don’t ask people to do things that I would not do myself,” she stated with conviction.

Mrs. Arrindell needs to commission a poll asking who is to be blamed for the dismal condition of the UPP. SHE WOULD FART TO KNOW THAT SHE. IS. THE. REASON!!!!!
Wow, this woman is a grade A freaking narcissist. Like she really can’t realize she is the problem and would prefer the whole party crumble than resign. This is insane. People, if you ever wanted an example of narcissistic personality disorder. Look no further than this woman. How after so much complaints she can’t accept she is the problem. She is right about one thing, she isn’t the scapegoat. SHE IS THE PROBLEM
Ten thousand Frenchmen cannot be wrong. But then again when you have a very strong ego, you will never give in.
You are trying to get rid of Richard Lewis in a very “honest” way, how full of integrity you are. The “alleged” xenophobia against his wife is such an honest and full of integrity trait. People confident in their abilities fear no challenge. Cowards and dishonest people do backhanded things and sow contempt and discord to achieve their objectives or hold on to the reigns of power. I guess in her world 1000 French men lie and the mass exodus from the UPP is coincidental. Professionals who have been associated with the party for years some decades are distancing themselves……. Take into consideration many have left and not ram into the arms of the ABLP, but have left non the same. They love to highlight the turncoats but what about those who ran for runnings sake. Then again the old saying you can’t smell yourself when you sink comes to mind.
Yes by hook or by crook, Richard MUST GO!!
1). dislike him because his wife is JAMAICAN
2). frustrate the rural west branch until Chevaughn Benjamin resign
3). Tell him polls show Michael Joseph beating his ass
4). work behind the scenes to find a new candidate to replace him
5). stress, frustrate and annoy him all the way to Clarvue Pshychiatric Hospital
The last election was NOT a vote for the UPP. It was a vote against the ABLP. This was due to lingering post Covid feelings, lack of water and bad roads. Most of those who switched or did not vote due to anger, have returned home to the ABLP. So Giselle, do not take any credit for that.
She just need to go or the good of the party
What a narcissist!!! She better rest assured that she is to blame, cause SHE a de problem!!!
She will read these comments and still REFUSE TO ACCEPT THAT SHE GISELE ISAAC [IS] THE CANCER EATING OUT THE BOWELS AND ANUS OF UPP!
“P-R-I-D-E goeth before the fall”
what a POMPOUS, ARROGANT, SELF-RIGHTEOUS, N-A-R-C-I-S-S-I-S-T-I-C, BELLICOSE, AGRESSIVE, TOXIC, HAUGHTY, CONCEITED, OVERBEARING, BOASTFUL, HIGH-HANDED chariman she is!
This is exactly why richard had to flee to Jamaica to escape all the STRESS from the overbearing Man Cow!!! Time to RESUME TALKS WITH ABLP ABOUT AMBASSADOR TO JAMAICA POSITION! Escape now richard or else SHE WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE A L-I-V-I-N-G H-E-L-L!!!
Over she dead body will you ever be leader of HER party!!!! You will question your sanity, your mental health will go to shambles and you will regret the day you dared to challenge lovell for leadership, then challenge pringle. how dare you!!! who da hell u think you be to come in Gisele party and ramp wid she! u pass ya place likkle boy!!!
For UPP Chair. Just some thoughts…. Move forward as of today. We human beings tend to go in circles when situations escape our control. It seems that you’re hurting your image and the party while trying to tackle the actual turmoil. By putting blames and labeling others will not bring solutions. Facing what the UPP party has being going through lately, recommendation is that there should be a meeting-review of everything affecting the inside situation, feelings, behavior, public statements and the likes; kwith the ruling members of your party, even with the non-ruling ones. Let them voice their honest opinions, worries and recommendations. Listen to each other with respect and consideration and in unison, come up with a strategy, changes, solutions and more that can uplift and place the only opposition party to a place of progression, with a clear projection and design of what the citizens of the country can expect from the party as a political organization and not from the stance of one, two or three people, including you. You cannot put out fire with more fire; you got to use water or?. When that fire is extinguished, clean-up and build-up again…. before it becomes worst and another fire erupts. Let the blamers blame, thats out of anyone’s control. But then, clean-up, build-up, recruit, design new strategy and we might add…. for the safety of the party and the best for the country, incorporate a setting aside of what is not allowing the party to grow more and go forward with strength as a UNITED PROGRESSIVE PARTY – UPP. There are many waiting for this to happen to rally behind the party. We have seen around the world, not only in Antigua, that when similar situations as the one the UPP party is going through (self-inflicted or not) a soul searching takes place, followed by big decisions and huge revamping. Going forward those steps have, in other places, yielded good progress and even victory. As we see it from outside: No need to go back! Go forward! It will be Welcomed ! Written with all due respect and consideration.
Definetely problems should be solved within
@Lynn
who the hell do you think you are giving advice to an already “EDUCATED” Chairman??? you pass your damn place fool!
Giselle, just ignore them. Changes can and should happen in any organisation including UPP but the present situation is more about the efforts of ABLP to mash up the party than any internal strife. They realize that you are a strong leg of the UPP chair and by encouraging your disconnection, the chair would just fall.
Stay strong, the country needs your strength.
@Zackie Flackie
You are a prime example of why the Chairman will never change. You fraid to tell she that she wrong….that she IS IN FACT THE PROBLEM WITH UPP!

Perhaps someone needs to list all the faults that Ms Pringle has which is causing her to impede the progress of UPP.
lol @ Ms. PRINGLE!!! 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 perfect name!
Good afternoon Giselle.
I have a suggestion for you and I hope you will get the opportunity to read this. I heard all the points you made, I even listened to you on the observer radio the other night. However,
Why do you think that you must be the chairperson of the party?
Why do you think the only way to be supportive of the UPP is to be in a leadership position?
And the same question goes to the Hon Jamal Pringle.
My point is people won’t think any less of you if you step aside for the greater good.
You both can contribute tremendously to the growth, development and success of the party in a different capacity.
Try this have an independent survey conducted by a reputable firm, amongst know UPP supporters nation wide. Basically you are trying to find out definitively how the electorate view you and the Hon Pringle as leaders of the party
This is very important because the party is in danger of loosing key members who all seem to suggest that the party has a leadership problem.
As a small sample size no one in my circle has ever expressed confidence in the leadership of the Hon Jamal Pringle
It sounds crazy or far fetched however just 2 months ago Pres Joe Biden did the exact same thing in the US presidential race for the greater good of the party. I am sure we all have seen the turn around in that race since he stepped aside.
It’s just something for you to think about…..
@Antiguan
who the hell do you think you are giving advice to an already “EDUCATED” Chairman??? you pass your damn place fool!
Antiguan, I think you better start writing the EULOGY of the UPP.
Because the inevitable is happening. Just a matter of time. They will be laid to rest. And then we will say, Once upon a time their was a political party named PLM, ACLM, UPP.
And then they were no more. And Gaston Browne wept because he didn’t expected to lose his opponents that early.
I get
Maybe she won’t accept advice from someone like me.
But for some of us who grew up in PLM households and then it was UNDP, and now it’s UPP the struggle is real. It’s nothing to joke about because they are f….up our chances for victory…
@The Nerve – At least there is no insults, disrespect or name calling in my writing, in an effort to show people like you that we all pulling together and offering advise-take-it-or-leave it, is more productive and decent than something like your attitude and behavior. I know who I am. Do you know who you are? ☮️💟
@Lynn
you are a peasant! Beneath the Chairman. She don’t need your advice!
As a former member of the UPP I read these posts and realize that there is no turning back for the party under Giselle. As long as she remains the leader, or even an active member of the party, it will not catch itself.
Not all of us went over to ALP, but some of us just stopped all active connections because of Giselle and how she treats people who she thinks don’t fit in her righteous space.
I know a lady (can’t remember her name) who did a lot of work for the party especially when things were not going so well after the 2018 elections. She worked to try to bring up the members dues and fees and sell ads for the radio station and help to pick up money to pay the bills and all sort of things to keep the party going. When the treasurer was not functioning well, there was a suggestion for her to become the treasurer. I was told by someone close to the leadership that Giselle said, “nat she, nat inside yah”.
Giselle did not want her because she is a non-national and she supported Richard Lewis for leader.
Giselle is very busy pushing away people who want the UPP to do well.
remember UPP HATES FOREIGNERS!!! Remeber how their ambassador to Cuba blasted them as “PAUPERS” and all kinda manner of evil???
worse yet RICHARD LEWIS WIFE IS J-A-M-A-I-C-A-N!!!! like a thirsty hungry bloodhound, she is out to boot richard from UPP
@ The Nerve Again you are telling me who you think I am. But you are not telling us who you are. I know who I am.
“If people behave badly and show themselves lacking in integrity and principle, that’s not on account of Gisele Isaac,” she affirmed.
This, coming from a former executive member of the now extinct OND (better known as Melford’s party). Seems like some people can jump from one party to another, but when others do the same thing they are lacking in integrity and principle. Smdh

Shawn Nicholas……….ready to jump, but lovell pleading with she
I know this sound more like gossip, but I now am putting one and one together. For the past six months if not longer, anytime I go to public function I see Lovell and Shawn together. At first I thought nothing of it because after all they are brother and sister from one party. But knowing who Lovell is, you do not see him out with a lady just so. So when I saw them about three different functions out I started to get a suspicious mind. My wife of course told me I have a dirty mind. But now that I read this thar Lovell has ask her not to resign, it comes back to mind.
But what the hell, the man sharp. He always has his prey. I must give that to him.
Dunno what you’re referring to because Lovell is a happily married man it seems. He said:
“And, my dear wife guides me and supports me to this day.”
https://antiguanewsroom.com/lovell-i-believe-in-listening-to-and-respecting-women/
Are u sure it wasn’t his “DEAR WIFE” you saw him with??
Why are all these ALP no-accounts so hurt by what’s happening in the UPP? Stop feeling people’s pain. While you are so engrossed in its business you’re still not getting any water just like the rest of us, feeling the burden of taxes and rising food prices just like the rest of us; oh and what about the escalation of criminal! Someone has been shot in Villa within the last hour. The UPP knows how to keep your hearts racing.
.
Gisele MASH UP UPP!!!! Dat a de hurt and pain you fu study. How they make one woman call the shots all the time is a mystery. do you know why? Maybe she a kip secret fu smaddy
Holding on to power at any cost..
