Today I close with an important statement from the Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda:
As Antigua and Barbuda reflects on the remarkable progress achieved over the past twelve years, it is evident that this period of exceptional growth has been guided by strong, visionary, and decisive leadership at the highest level.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s steady hand, strategic foresight, and his team’s unwavering commitment to national development have positioned our nation as a resilient and forward-moving small state, capable of navigating uncertainty while delivering tangible results for our people.
In a time of unprecedented global challenges—where small developing states like ours face economic volatility, climate threats, and shifting geopolitical realities—the importance of experienced, focused, and transformational leadership cannot be overstated. Now, more than ever, Antigua and Barbuda must remain anchored by a government that is resilient, innovative, and prepared to safeguard our gains while driving even greater economic expansion.
The Cabinet believes that this is a defining moment for every citizen.
The responsibility to vote is not only a civic duty but a powerful opportunity to continue shaping the future of our nation. Let us rise to the occasion and participate fully in the democratic process, choosing leadership that is strong, capable, and committed to continued growth and prosperity.
The Cabinet believes that Now is the time to focus on leadership that delivers—leadership that can guide Antigua and Barbuda to even greater heights of economic strength, stability, and national development.
The Cabinet urges you to get your cards validated and get ready to proceed with focus and a shared commitment to advancing the work of the Gaston Browne government for the benefit of all of Antigua and Barbuda.

And now? We are a Christian country so understand what’s being said about Christianity on this Good Friday
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared a clip last summer of pastors in his ultraconservative denomination, which holds that America is a Christian nation whose laws should reflect Christian tenets, arguing that women should be barred from voting.
In 2024, the popular conservative wellness podcaster Alex Clark said on her show that she “wouldn’t mind if it was just the male head of household that voted.”
A prominent anti-abortion activist who spoke at the 2020 Republican National Convention, Abby Johnson, has also endorsed household voting.
CRAP AND MORE CRAP
And your point is?
Hon. Gaston Browne , You are doing a MARVELLOUS job. Antiguans and Barbudans are proud of your Leadership. Wishing you success in the upcoming election. Stay strong. Blessings.
Antigua must introduce a law that clearly states that no individual can lead a political party for more than two terms. This’ll ensure that if any political party gets a third General Election win, there must be measures in place that a man or woman must be replaced as soon as possible
Here are the main reasons as to why:
1) Complacency towards the electoral base
2) The removal will ensure that financial matters that haven’t been forthcoming will be thoroughly investigated and looked into
3) An independent audit must be carried out before General elections to look into if inducements are legally binding and affordable
4) An appointment must be made when it looks like the current political party will win a third term
5) The appointment must not be a spouse or family member, or the same behaviour will inevitably continue as such
6) Other members of Cabinet should be freely allowed to put their names forward without fear or favour
7) Undermining a potential Challenger should be deemed as some sort of political “witch-hunt” and illegal in a democratic society
8) If the status quo of an unchallenged leadership bid continues it doesn’t bode well for the current if his leadership has become untenable, as Antiguans have witnessed here right now
9) An automatic leadership bid challenge should be triggered a couple of months before a possible third term
10) And for the sake of a vibrant democracy to continue and not the possibility of a authoritarian one, freshening up ANY party leadership is an absolute must. If not, Antigua & Barbuda will eventually rue the day that they didn’t do so
Furthermore more Mr Merchant, Antiguans have the overwhelming feeling that other more capable Cabinet Ministers are fearful of putting their heads above the parapet against Prime Minister Browne.
Some of these individuals knows very well, that the Antigua Labour Party has Destroyed our Country, yet they pretend that they are supporting this Wicked Regime.
The Cabinet is the Antigua Labour Party, been called by a different name, so they are only patting themselves on their backs.
If the Regime is doing such a good job, then.why so much inducement.and bribery??
Gaston: me done threaten all the compromise ALP ministers that I am crazy enough to expose how they got their wealth like how asot had threatened to expose me, and so they have no choice but to line up and perfunctorily proclaim me as leader, they don’t want to lose everything and UPP investigate them.
@Brixtonian. The voters keep voting for the leader sir. That is just the way democracy works. If the people don’t want him to lead then they need to vote for someone else.
Also his party members should challenge him for leadership at their convention. What are they afraid of? Last time I checked Antigua is not a communist country. He can’t throw them in jail for simply having a different opinion.
But even you must admit @Right Winger that there’s an underlying under current to anyone wanting to challenge Gaston Browne for leadership in Antigua & Barbuda, it seems so much more than any other democratic country.
The UPP were generally castigated for selecting the wrong leader from many quarters inside and outside the camp, but at least the UPP held one at their convention.
Gaston Browne’s mask slipped recently when he undermined Chet Greene when dealing with the Senator when clearly Greene was the person who should have been consulted in the first instance.
Furthermore, with the ABLP, you get the feeling that if Gaston Browne’s leadership was ever challenged from within, that whoever does so, there political career is done and dusted.
However, I respect your opinion 👍🏾
I have nothing good to say about this current administration, so ANR can keep censoring my comments all they want.
This administration has ruined Antigua, totally ruined it. When Antigua should be 20 years ahead, they are still toiling in the dark, just to even get some water out the damn pipes.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Many in the diaspora don’t even want to return home, because of the crime rate in Antigua, both supporters and oppositions, just ask the great @Dave Ray.. 😂
@ Islanman26,
Welcome to the club of being censored.
When the comments bites and exposes the hypocrisy and pretense; those comments don’t see the light of day.
Never ignore or forget the power of the media, the danger that comes with it.
…And @Islandman26, I’ll be returning to my family based in Europe (or move my business to one of the CARICOM islands) if as expected Gaston Browne returns to govern.
My only concern is for those who’ll lose their jobs right here, and the the regular businesses that’ll miss out on the amount of trade.
As you hinted, like Dr Dave I’m out, why hang around when I don’t have to…
