Nearly two years after the tragic accident that claimed the life of an American University of Antigua (AUA) student, the case against Karim Edwards is still ongoing in court.
On October 23, 2022, Edwards allegedly struck two AUA students crossing Friars Hill Road, leading to severe consequences.
A ruling on the no case submission, initially expected on September 11, has been rescheduled to September 19, allowing the Magistrate and defence counsel additional time to assess the prosecution’s response.
The accident proved fatal for 21-year-old Kenneth Mathew, who sustained critical brain injuries and passed away just over a week later.
Mathew’s companion, 19-year-old Priyanjana Das, survived but suffered life-changing injuries, including the loss of her right arm, fractures to her left arm, and pelvic damage.
Edwards, an accountant in his late 40s, originally faced charges of dangerous driving, which were later upgraded to causing death by dangerous driving after Mathew’s death.

Don’t forget that the driver fled the scene, drove home, and handed himself in later, his wife is/was a magistrate, so you can assume he got advised to do so.

Edwards court case should have been dealt with by now and he should be behind bars.

This is the same drunk that bully just drove up got out his vehicle, took out my water bottle out of the water machine and put in his and told me I have to wait. I was so upset and didn’t want to retaliate so I got in my vehicle and left.

When will we get closure of this hit and run accident. And the police and all the media houses and the politicians are all silent. No one cares about the life of Andrea Hughes. And her Children ten years later still cannot get justice for the killing of their mother. Even if she was a dog we would have ensure we get justice for that.
