Traffic Head reminds vehicle owners that full tinting of front windscreen is illegal without Commissioner’s permission

REAL NEWS: Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rodney Ellis is reminding vehicle owners that the full tinting of windscreens is illegal and will not be tolerated by the Traffic Department.

According to the Traffic Department Head, the law states that the protective coating should not be longer than six inches on the front windscreen, and tinting more than a quarter of it requires permission from the Commissioner of Police.

Ellis says that motorists who break the law will have their vehicles impounded and then taken back to the Motor Pool for re-inspection.

While full windscreen tinting is permitted at the discretion of the Commissioner, Ellis believes that most of the reasons given for the request were not sufficient for this exemption.

He adds that he does not agree with anyone, at all, being allowed to tint  the entire front windscreen car lights

Meanwhile, Ellis says that persons caught with illegal tint will have to pay a penalty of $150.

  2. If the story is about windscreens, why is there a photo of the door windows?
    Then… I have NEVER seen a vehicle with a fully tinted windscreen.
    I have seen many with “visor” tinting. If 6 in is the acceptable width, then… just say that.

  5. ASP Ellis… I remember some years back, full ‘non see through’ tint on any window was declared illegal & motorists had to remove the heavy tint.
    Rationale was car behind could not see road ahead, so removing the following drivers ability to anticipate and take necessary action.
    Which made sense.

    So now it’s just the windshields?

    Clarity please, as safety must be the reason for decisions such as these.

  6. People tint their windows to protect their interiors from getting damaged by the heat of the sun so y’all are ridiculous because crimes are still being committed regardless especially by police.

    another thing taking away a camo hat, t-shirt or short pants which are worn separately is also super nonsensical, I’ve never seen any citizen on the street in a full army suit other than soldiers.

    Came through the airport with a camo baseball cap and they confiscate it smh, camo underwear in my luggage the or camo shoes the same, its just fashion. look at the ppl committing crimes I’m police uniforms and blue overalls.
