TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC

Temporary Closure of the High Court and TheFamily Court

 

Notice is hereby given that the High Court and the Family Court will be closed to the general public from Wednesday 27th December, 2023 to Friday 5th January, 2024 to facilitate improvements to both courts.  The courts will re-open on the 9th January, 2024.Both courts will reopen on the 9th January, 2024.

HIGH COURT

All filing, service and disposition of matters not presently on the E Litigation Portal should be done by the mail address [email protected] as was done during the closure of the High Court during the pandemic.  

All filing, service and disposition of matters on the E Litigation Portal will continue as usual.  Attorneys are kindly asked to refer to Practice Direction No 2 of 20 Covid-19 Emergency Measures (Re-Issue) for guidance, including the requirement for filing of an Undertaking with respect to the payment of filing fees in respect of matters not on the portal, on the re-opening of the Court on Monday 8th January, 2024.

Injunctions and other urgent matters filed manually via the Emergency Filings email must also be copied to the Court Administrator Tammie Gage at [email protected] and copied to the Registrar and Deputy Registrar respectively at [email protected] and [email protected].

 

FAMILY COURT

The filing of matters on the E Litigation Portal will continue as usual.

Filing appointments scheduled during the period that the Family Court will be closed are adjourned and will be rescheduled for a later date.

The filing of Domestic Violence matters by the Gender Affairs Department will be forwarded to the Family Court for immediate action.

 

Payments for Child Maintenance will be collected on the re-opening of the Family Court on the 9th January, 2024.

  1. This is ridiculous. Why does the closure of the High court have to affect child support payments again? It was once paid at the Magistrate’s court.

  2. This is absolute rubbish , children always have to suffer by the hands of the court . I hope they fix all the issues that the court has and can actually give me my balance and stop telling me they cant give me a balances what an incompetent department. Workers are lazy as ever as well . They need to hire people who actually wants to work

  3. What?!. Not again. Children can’t wait until the 9th to eat. This is unacceptable. Something needs to be done immediately.

  4. Another problem under the ABLP’S watch; and yet their supporters will lay the blame elsewhere.

    ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT WE HAD A REAL CHANCE FOR CHANGE LAST JANUARY …
