*Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Collision on All Saints Road *
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, Tuesday, May 12, 2026

The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal traffic accident on All Saints Road on Tuesday, May 12, involving a motor bus and an employee of the National Solid Waste Management Authority.
The allegations are that the motor bus was travelling from west to east along All Saints Road at a high rate of speed when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road.
The vehicle collided with the worker, causing him to be pinned between the bus and a truck that was parked on the northern side of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical doctor at approximately 10:56 am.
The deceased has been identified as 29year- old Okeem Lightfoot of Swetes Village.
The driver of the bus was transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for medical treatment.
The Police Administration extends sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.
Motorists are once again reminded to exercise caution while using the nation’s roads and to adhere to all traffic laws, particularly with respect to speed limits.
The investigation remains ongoing.

It’s sad that these idiots who continue to speed on the roads keep taking innocent lives. When are they going to learn that reckless driving destroys families and communities? My condolences to the family during this difficult time.
Sending my heartfelt condolences to Okeem Lightfoot’s family, friends and colleagues at this sad and terrible time.
Speeding vehicles has been an ongoing scourge in Antigua of so many tragic – and avoidable – accidents. I also read somewhere that this small country has around 250-300 crashes on a quarterly basis – which is way too many.
Hopefully, more speed humps are also being implemented on our newly resurfaced roads to counteract speeding drivers?
Rest In everlasting Peace Okeem 🙏🏾
PEACEFUL REST TO HIM, LEAVE HIS HOME 🏡 TO WORK AND NEVER GOING TO RETURN BACK. SENSELESS BEHAVIOR ON THE ROAD, THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT FIXING ROAD TO TURN IT INTO A RUNNRRWAY. LORD HAVE MERCY CHRIST HAVE MERCY
My sincere condolences to his family ….when are these idiots gonna learn to take their time on government road smh …this is sad very sad ……
It is not only speeding, as wrong as that is, it is also not having situational awareness because of being on a phone or being otherwise mentally occupied.
When persons are driving they need to be 100% aware of what is going on around them. Answering or God forbid, making a call whilst driving takes away some of that situational awareness, even when it is hands-free. Your brain has to direct some of its functionality away from the act of driving and into the consciousness of the call. Sometimes, even just a glance away to talk to someonelse in person can deflect away from how much you may have sped up or your trajectory.
This is so sad, that the young man left his family at home to earn a wage and will not ever be seen by them alive again or see them again.
Sincerest condolences to all who mourn his untimely demise.
Deepest condolences 🙏
This scumbag for sure was under the stinky cigarette, piece of sh.t.
Lord have mercy. Cover our loved ones lord.
In some matters only God can help. May he help
Nobody saw this coming. RIP Lightfoot strength to those who loved you
This is a very dreadful matter and I surly hope that this family can pull through
Just Sad. This is just a sad and terrible way to lose one’s life. My condolences to his family.
The dead cannot speak for themselves, so it’s up to us to speak for them..Slow done on the roads people, slow down.
Antigua roads are already narrow and bad, so stop making it worse with the terrible speeds that some of you drives at on those roads.
Just sad.
