Seized Vehicles Set for Auction Tomorrow

It is notified for the information of the general public that between the years 2020 and 2023 several motor vehicles have been seized by the police. This was as a result of a number of defects and violations under the Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 460 of the Laws of Antigua and Barbuda.

The said vehicles are impounded at the Government Motor Pool, Pigotts Main Road.

The said vehicles are available for immediate repossession upon production of documentation relative to valid insurance and licensing. Those with defects must be repaired.

As provided for by the said Act, any motor vehicles remaining unclaimed for a period of ninety (90) days shall be sold at public auction.

The auction sale of these vehicles will be on Friday 20th September, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Government Motor Pool. This will continue until all vehicles are auctioned.

The registered owners are therefore advised to act promptly to avoid the specified course of action.

    Seemingly some ‘…Traffic Commissioners’ are unaware of the ‘…FULL LEGAL REQUIREMENTS’ of the sale of ‘…IMPOUNDED PRIVATE MOTOR VEHICLES.’

    PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE:

    For the benefit of:

    (i) ‘…Public Knowledge: and

    (ii) …POLICE STRATCOM:’

    …CLEARLY ENACTED LAW

    ‘ The ‘…Clearly Enacted Law’ provides that before disposing of any ‘…IMPOUNDED VEHICLE:

    (a) ‘…The Traffic Commissioner shall first publish ‘…Two Times in the Government’s Official
    Gazette: and

    (b) …Two times in one of the newspapers circulating in ‘…ANTIGUA AND Barbuda:’

    PROCEEDS OF AUCTION SALE: …FUNDAMENTALLY CLEAR

    The ‘LAW’ has made it ‘…FUNDAMENTALLY CLEAR,’ that the ‘Auction Sale Proceeds,’ shall ‘FIRST’ be utilized to ‘…PAY’ for:

    (i) ‘…The Cost of the publication and sale:

    (ii) …The Cost of the Removal and Storage in the Pound: while

    (iii) …The Remainder of the proceeds shall be paid to the Owner of the vehicle.’

    APPLICABLE LAW

    The ‘…APPLOICABLE LAW’ that so provides is ‘…The Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Act: No. 15 of 1995: SECTIONS 10: Subsections (2) to (5)].

    OWNERS: WISE UP AND KNOW

    MOTOR VEHICLE OWNERS SHALL ‘…WISE UP AND KNOW.’

    EVEN FOR ‘PREVIOUS AUCTION SALES,’ THEY SHALL DEMAND THEIR DUE AND PAYABLE SHARE.
