Seafood restaurant to be built near Keeling Point Pier – PM Browne

22

Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced plans to construct a seafood restaurant in the vicinity of the Keeling Point Pier, which collapsed two Thursdays ago.

Reconstruction work, which began last week, was just about completed when the Prime Minister toured the site on Monday.

“We’ll be having a second phase. I’ve just discussed with them the development of a seafood restaurant here”, the Prime Minister told reporters.

“The plan is to extend the facility where that old, condemned area of dock is located and to provide them with the opportunity to sell value-added fish products so for example, you can come here to get your steam fish, your fried fish, get a fish meal and I think that the facility will be bigger and better and far more empowering, providing entrepreneurial opportunities for the fisherfolks here.”

Fisherfolk and their day’s catch were sent crashing into the water when a section of the pier gave way.

Meridian Construction Ltd, which is constructing a new cruise pier in St. John’s Habour was asked to rebuild the structure.

“There’s no way that we would have left this facility in a decrepit state recognizing that we are spending well in excess of a half a billion dollars to rebuild the cargo and cruise facilities here. So, this facility obviously would have been enhanced. It was accelerated by the fact that there was an accident”, the Prime Minister explained.

  1. Watch Gaston end up owning the restaurant himself. Just like he doing with everything in the other side by the new cruise ship pier.

    • @Grabalicious:That would be a shame. He may grab it all. Then what?I have never seen.Where anyone took anything they have grabbed,on this earth, into a Casket with them.As a matter of fact, someone dresses you for that final earthly ride.Just hoping your prediction is wrong.

    • Or maybe even will just give it to his son. Saw his namesake on Facebook saying he gets rich by borrowing from the bank and he Can’t be getting money from the treasury as there would be a trail. My question is, is he getting loans from the banks that the government is investing the people’s money in?

  2. Another failed experiment, guess it will be the top dawg mother in law chain of restaurants. Only in Antigua…….Smh

  3. @grabalicioue, Antiguan citizen, knight………
Your typical, predictable forecasts of doom and gloom concerning anything to do with development in Antigua have become trite and boring and reflective of an impoverished mind. Why is your glass always half empty?

    • @Anon the 1st:Instead of commenting on the comments made by others. Why not come on this medium with some ideas of your own,any ideas.Discussing what others have said.Do not help the people in that Community known as Grays/Green.Or as I called it The Mud.Yes,I know that area very well.Because,I am from deep in The Mud, Donovan.

      • @black-man
It never makes any sense trying to talk with Anon. You’re just wasting time with a complete idiot.

  4. The Prime Minister must be reading my comments.Last week,I did say that area needs to be developed with Restaurants and some night life.Because it borders the number one Port in Antigua,St.Johns Harbor.Good to know something is about to be done. Now let us see it being done.Just not mere words of another promise and then nada.

    • Wheel and come again. You’d wish you had the vision of this PM. He has always said this area and the new fifth pier need to be fully developed, but I guess you don’t pay attention to when he speaks.

      • @SIDELINES: He did say Perry Bay would be cleaned up as Booby Alley. The area referred to as Kneeling Point was not on his damn radar.I also spoke about Parham.Where the waterfront should be developed into Seafood Restaurants. That would surely attract visitors to the island.I even mentioned Oistins in Barbados.Every Friday and Saturday nights they would have a festival of seafood and drinks. That Town in Barbados is packed with Tourists on those nights. Why the heck your Administration could not think of it.Where are your damn forward thinkers in this old aged Administration.Too busy stuffing their pockets with loots.

        • @black-man: sidelines is another moron that’s useless to engage any worthwhile conversation. Another one with his head buried deep in Gaston bottom.
