UPP Shows Contempt for the People by Failing to Produce a Manifesto, says ABLP

16

The United Progressive Party has shown complete contempt for the people of Antigua and Barbuda by failing to publish a manifesto of its own.

With the general election upon us, the UPP has offered no plans, no programmes, no costing, and no contract by which the people can judge it or hold it accountable.

Yet, having produced nothing of its own, the UPP now criticises the ABLP Manifesto without substance, without specifics, and without offering any alternative.

This is political noise, not serious leadership.

A manifesto is the basis on which a political party asks for public trust. The UPP is asking for support while offering nothing concrete in return.

By contrast, the ABLP has placed before the nation a detailed Manifesto, widely distributed and available in accessible formats. It sets out a verifiable record of stewardship and a clear plan for the future.

The choice is clear: leadership with a record and a programme, or criticism without a plan.

The UPP’s failure to publish a manifesto is not an oversight. It is a failure of seriousness, a failure of accountability, and an act of contempt for the people whose support it now seeks.

  1. But ablp have one that is full of empty promises. Plus plenty people can’t read and understand manifesto, how much a dem y’all ever fulfill? Just a book of lies y’all produced

  2. If me laugh one more time. So the party who thinks this is the time for fetes, drinking and entertainment is telling the party who is out multiple times a week detailing their plans and programs that they have contempt for the people of Antigua and Barbuda?

I’ve never heard more foolishness in my life. I mean these are the people who called a snap election 3 years into a 5 year term. Wha can really go so?

These guys need to just shut up at this point. They are literally grasping at straws right now. I saw a post from them the other day talking about the picture of Harold Lovell that was on a UPP ad. Like what turns on the picture? How is that important given the things happening around the country and the world.

  3. Gisele: “We should publish a manifesto”
    Pringle: “What’s a manifesto?”

They don’t even have a functional website and they expect Antiguan’s to take them seriously? Give me a break. This group of clueless UPP amateurs would create a man-made economic disaster for the island the likes of which have never been seen here before.

  4. The desperation of the ALP never seems to reach its peak.
Just when one thought they couldn’t be more desparate they open their mouths and it shows up.
    Manifesto?????
    Manifesto??????
    Get real.
The ALP has always produced a picture album calling it a manifesto.
For the avoidance of doubt a manifesto is a contract between the people and the party.
    That contract can be verbal.
However political parties produce one so that the people can hold them to it.
    Hold them to it?????
    Really????
Can anyone in the ALP tell me what percentage of promises in their picture album since 2014 have been fulfilled?
At the risk of being generous i will say that less than fitlfteen percent (15%) of ALP’s promises to the people have been fulfilled.
In fact ninety percent (90%) of their promises continue to be recycled like a stuck record election after election.
They are so dillusional that they find creative ways to include their promises in their budgets.
They recycle those budget promises over and over and over.
Not one ever comes to reality.
The UPP know how to get it done with or without a manifesto.
Every social programe that is alive at this elections time was implemented by the UPP.
The laboor party has not looked at its book of pictures since the day after elections.
So when they think they are ahead of the game, they are not.
So Gaston, I continue to caution you.
Do not let your political portal make you appear too desperate.
I know that power feels nice.
However you have to learn to live without it.
The things you are trying to use to score cheap political points are simply making you appear power hungry.

  5. I have been following politics for so long not even in Papa days ALP have ever kept half of their manifesto promises. I also remember PLM published a manifesto and ALP called it a picture album. Manifestos are full of promises mostly unfulfilled. They are just moments for your supporters

  6. However the ALP cabol produce picture a book they call a manifesto every election, with promise after promise that they never fulfill.
If the people were to hold them accountable for unfulfilled promises in their picture books, these cabol members would be tared and featured as in the old days.

  7. Why are the ABLP working themselves up over the lack thereof of the UPP’S manifesto?

    Who is this government fooling?

They NEVER keep to theirs. I’ve not only kept track of ABLP’S last two term manifestos, I’ve also lost count of how many promises they’ve broken.

These PUSILLANIMOUS deflectors of truth can only hoodwink their diehard acolytes; the untutored and those boot-licking guttersnipes who worship the ground Gaston walks on. Absolutely pathetic!

Remember Gaston Browne you’ve now made a rod for your own back by this current spending spree around the country. If by some miracle you win the General Election, the hardworking citizens will expect you to continue with all these developments to completion.

THE COUNTRY WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU IF YOU DON’T…

  8. If not producing a manifesto is contempt for the people, what you call having workers wait 8 years for money that they done work for? What you call not providing basics like water and reliable electricity? What you call increasing car license by 40% and people have to buy car parts fast because roads bad? What you call forcing people to work in mold office? What you call giving people poor care when they sick? Call it ABLP wickedness to the people!

  9. Gaston and ALP wanted to also be parasitic in even manifesto, they wanted that when UPP release their manifesto they themselves the ALP would a copy as a parasite all UPP policy for the people just like how Gaston say if UPP create a natural concession for duty free without checking a minister is bad for the country but he Gaston come and say he “codifying” duty on cars, same thing that UPP recommend but he say it with trickery word.
There is a song by Michael Jackson BEAT IT Gaston and ALP we don’t need you after the 30th April.

  10. If Pringle is not as unintelligent as a lot of person believe, then UPP: why is he the only Political Leader of the UPP to ever contest an election without a manifesto? So trying to sell us a dunce, as Antigua people deserves better

  11. I am in agreement that a manifesto is nonsense. None of the political parties can show me that they follow their manifesto after getting elected.
Hey it is my belief that ABLP is going to win this election. I will be surprised if they don’t win by an increase. So don’t have to be trying to make any pitch about useless Manifestoes. Secondly it is a waste of precious time and resources. Thirdly the Gaston Browne administration called a snap election , that has the electoral commission, the electorate and even its own candidates running around like headless fouls. So again no time to to put out a top quality document, that you yourself will criticize. Manifestoes do not win emotions.

  12. This is just so dumb. So Gaston produce a manifesto… What’s the point? All you’ve done is produce a document work intended broken promises.

Gaston, you’ve been the PM for twice years, and Antigua has NOT progressed! The roads are still a mess, government buildings are run down, people STILL after SO MANY PROMISES still can’t have water flowing through their pipes continously. Where is the progress?

After the last election, do you recall Maria saying she’s doing a walk through the curry to see what needs to be done? First off, I thought that was so dumb and was only a photo opportunity, for ANY any Antiguan knows the state of the city. In any event, from since her walk through, there’s been no significant upgrade. No proper sidewalk, the curry is as such and as dirty as hell; businesses are moving from Saint John’s. The car park is still sitting!

Big rates still in the city, playing fields only NOW are being looked after…. You guys…. Are beyond words

If you win so be it, but you’ll win without my support. You all live good, and the regular Antigua people ah scrape by!

This is the sad reality! And I still haven’t forgotten the car scandal and the visa scandal that you paddle seems to be burying under the rug.

I’d you gotta REALLY WORKED during the team, no prob, but me on. TWELVE YEARS!!!

You talk about the opposition want to come in to get paid, but you and your merry men have been raping Antigua for 12 years and have nothing to show for it
