RARE DEER SIGHTING IN ANTIGUA

A deer and her young (fawn) were seen in bushes near Frairs Hill Road about 4pm today.

Our fast acting camera-man was able to take short video of the mammals before they disappeared.

While deers are popular on the sister isle Barbuda, the creature which is on the Coat of Arms, is not known to exist on the mainland, in any significant number.

A woman who also saw the pair of European Fallow Deer said they appeared to be drinking water near the road-side.

It is not known how the animals came to reside here.
