Murder Accused Angela Mejia Held Under Tight Security Amid Suicidal Concerns
Angela Mejia, who confessed to the murder of 9-year-old Chantel Pump, remains in solitary confinement at His Majesty’s Prison under heavy security following her remand six weeks ago.
The 27-year-old was outfitted with a bulletproof vest during her first court appearance, reflecting public outrage and fears of vigilante retaliation.
Superintendent of Prison Trevor Pennyfeather described her demeanor as reserved, noting that both staff and inmates initially expressed discomfort and anger at her presence.
There was pushback from female officers and inmates, Pennyfeather said, but staff are now acting professionally as required.
Authorities placed Mahia on suicide watch after she reportedly exhibited suicidal thoughts. She is closely monitored, receives supervised outdoor time, and has made specific requests regarding her meals.
Mejia allegedly led police to Chantel’s body in the Weatherills area.
The child, a student at Five Islands Primary, was found unclothed, though an autopsy revealed no signs of sexual assault or visible trauma. The cause of death remains inconclusive, and investigations continue.
Mejia is expected to return to court on June 4.

I believe I heard her parents said she told the police she killed cnantel and put her in the cistern. She took them to her body I think. But no surprise here Mel. This has been in the news from the time of the crime

Are the police investigating whether she actually worked alone or whether she’s an accomplice to the crime? Enquiring minds would like to know.

If you know that there was a man involved, why you don’t go for him and turn him in. Why are you insinuating violence for ? She is innocent until proven guilty. We all want Justice for Chantel. And my take on this matter, is that a psychiatric evaluation need to he done on her as part of the case. What Penyfeather said is correct. He to must monitor her behavior and report on her progress in there. Everybody is already condemning Angela for the crime on one hand, and begging forgiveness on the other hand for a man who was sentenced to prison for a gun and a silencer. My question is, which crime we prefere in this country. A crime is a crime. Chantel case is not closed. It have far to go to prove the cause of death.

Has a thorough psychological assessment been done on the young lady who reportedly abducted Chantel Crump and later led police to her body?
This entire situation is far from normal behavior — and if it hasn’t been done yet, the question is, why not?
I’m not bringing it up to excuse anything or shift the focus, but we have to ask the hard questions.
Also — were all family members interviewed extensively? Because in a case like this, everyone close to the situation should be properly questioned.
I truly hope the authorities are doing the right things behind the scenes, because this case is too serious to be treated lightly.

The sad reality is that either through the actions/non-actions of the police, the actions of the public, and the inability of potential jurors to prove that they can remain impartial, she will probably get off.
There are so many lessons to be learned from this poor baby’s murder, but we all want to stay in our glass houses. We see nothing and we say nothing, BUT folks…..realize that your glass can break one day, and the silence that you had all these years will be repaid with the same silence.
