Prison Superintendent Lieutenant Colonel Trevor Pennyfeather reported that a raid was conducted at His Majesty’s Prison, resulting in the discovery of drugs, including marijuana and what appeared to be crack cocaine, along with cellphones and other contraband.
The raid was prompted by information suggesting that some recent criminal activities were orchestrated by inmates within the prison.
A joint team of Police, Defense Force, and Prison Officers executed the planned search in 10 prison cells and two general quarters areas, uncovering various items such as cellphones, makeshift weapons, sharp instruments, and narcotics.
Pennyfeather emphasized the need for improved security measures, acknowledging that progress will take time.
He mentioned potential criminal charges against the individuals involved and proposed measures like an external eastern fence and better entrance/exit management.
Additionally, he discussed using cellular phone jammers to prevent inmates from using smuggled phones.

Like every thing else in Antigua, cell phone jammers have been talk about since the great flood of the earth and Matuzala was a baby! When will talk become action?????
Still got to be careful since jammers could affected cell phone users outside of the prison walls .
Cell phone manners at our prison is a very technical issue. My understanding is that because of the location of the prison, with roads, the ARG, printery and other businesses in close proximity the jamming will extend beyond the prison walls and affect persons on the outside.
When you just love to jump and make comments to appear as if you are intelligent. If the first commenter was as intelligent as he claims to common sense would have told him cell phone jammer would not only affect the prison but also the firestation, ARG and the other businesses in that area but one must forgive him as everyday he makes his political bais turn him into a wash rinse and repeat BAKA!! (Japanese word for idiot)
Incompetence at the top
What had become of the lie detector test that was going to be administered to the staff? Too many corrupt prison officers. I guess the pay isn’t enough.
