PRIME MINISTER BROWNE: The Unions threatening to destabilize the country because we introduced vaccine mandates.
How about if we cease the automatic deduction of dues and force them to collect directly from their members ?
SENATOR GAIL CHRISTIAN SAID:
This statement published by the Union advising its members who are unvaccinated to attend work in the face of a stated government policy, is utterly irresponsible and confrontational.
What does the Union expect to achieve by this?
Section 70 of the Constitution gives unto the Cabinet the general control and direction of government and makes Cabinet responsible to Parliament.
The very Constitution in Section 3 acknowledges that the public interest trumps individual rights. It is a sacred and Constitutionally based responsibility held by the the Executive ( Cabinet) to determine what is in the best interest of the public. It is in exercising this responsibility that Cabinet Decisions are made.
The Court exists for a reason. If the Union thinks the rights of its membership are being infringed upon then it can seek redress from the court.
We compromise the very system upon which our democracy is built when we seek to subvert that which exists for our own benefit and protection.
I hasten to add that Cabinet decisions are only reviewable by the Court in limited circumstances and only on the basis that the decision is procedurally irregular, irrational or illegal.
If the Union feels it can satisfy any of these thresholds move the Court!
Chaos and Disharmony will get us nowhere!

At the end of the day, they will try to make everything unavailable for the unvaccinated individuals and try to push us in a tight box so we fold but the majority is unvaccinated. We need to come together and strike. Shut down Antigua completely and watch how they wouldn’t be able to operate. GASTON forgetting that we gave him the job and we can take it away. But when only vaccinated people are working I hope they see that cases in those places will STILL RISE. LOOK AT AUA BUT THEY AINT GONNA TALK ABOUT THAT THO. Such a dunce government. Wanna mandate a vaccine yet AIRPORT STILL OPEN SO OBVIOUSLY CASES WILL FOREVER RISE. He took long to close AIRPORT last time so we have enough covid to scare people into taking the vaccine and here he goes ONCE AGAIN dragging the closing of the airport. This government boiiii but wait cause all this evilness he doing its gonna fall right back on him and his family. Who jah bless, no man can curse. I refuse to be coerced of forced into taking that LIQUID POISON. GASTON have a rude awakening on his path.

The Cabinet must also be schooled in the principle of the Rule of Law since the Cabinet operates as if it is above the law. The principle of the Rule of Law requires that the government just like the ordinary citizen must act in accordance with the law. Recently the Cabinet has announced that it has issued mandates on mandatory vaccination. Mandates are not law and the Cabinet must follow the proper procedure if it wants to implement a mandatory vaccination policy.
