Prime Minister Browne Denounces Observer’s Attempt to Create Discord
In a recent interview on Pointe FM, Prime Minister Gaston Browne issued a stern rebuke against what he termed “low-level politics” aimed at sowing discord within Antigua and Barbuda.
The Prime Minister’s comments came in response to what he described as efforts to provoke strife by certain entities, both domestic and international.
During the interview, Browne expressed frustration over what he perceives as attempts to undermine his administration.
He referenced communications allegedly made to various foreign offices, including the Bridgetown office, the State Department, and the Antiguan Embassy, as well as interactions with Ukrainian officials by the Observer Newsco.
Browne accused unnamed individuals of trying to manipulate these contacts to stir up trouble.
“These people need to stop it,” Browne asserted. “They’re hungry and trying to feed their hunger by creating mischief within our country.”
While Browne acknowledged that his statements might invite criticism, he emphasized that they were not intended to provoke animosity toward any particular country or individual.
However, he condemned what he sees as deliberate efforts to misinterpret his words and exploit them for political gain.
Addressing a specific incident involving a journalist, Browne called out Darren Matthew Ward for allegedly misrepresenting his remarks.
He urged journalists to accurately report his statements and cautioned against sensationalizing stories.
“In the future, quote me directly. Stop putting your own words and paraphrasing using things that I did not say,” Browne admonished. He also encouraged the public to seek information directly from the source rather than relying on what he characterized as unreliable media outlets.
Browne was making reference to comments he made about Ukraine last week.

Gaston Browne, your words have come back and bite you in the rear. You would go on your Radio Station on Saturdays and have Diarrhea of the mouth. Now you are blaming others for your utterances. The English Language is very complicated if you are not familiar with it.However, what you did say is very easy to understand. You talk to damn much.
Agree to the infinite degree
The only thing Observer has to do Gaston Browne, play back your own words. They should adopt what Knight does at nights. Then there would not be one damn thing for you to rebut.
Then I suggest Prime Minister Browne, that you tone down your divisive rhetoric. You have always enjoyed denigrating people with your words for decades – if not longer -, and now people are doing the same to you. You are crying foul?
Tone down your nastiness, and you might get more respect.
JUST A SUGGESTION …
Furthermore Browne, I don’t recall you castigating the English female journalist that made derogatory remarks about our own investigative journalist Nikki Phoenix; yet you didn’t say word.
Is it because Nikki Phoenix is also a thorn in your political flesh, just like Darren Matthew Ward?
This is why Nikki is the best:

This is her exclusive interview with the man that was behind the 1$ million donated to help Barbudan’s in their recovery after hurricane Irma 6 years ago.
Orr. Poor Gaston. Seems he is troubled by the fact that more than half of the population didn’t vote for him. He is not used to having a vocal opposition. Get used to it buddy.
What I heard on Observer NEWSCO was the Prime Minister’s VOICE making Utterances about Ukraine and The Current Situation of The War with Russia………..
So What Am I reading here in The P M’s Statement?
The P M does Not Recognize His OWN VOICE? Or is it the Usual “Modus Operandi” of Our Prime Minister? SMH. Peace! 🌻😇
Maybe it’s an AI trick 😊😅😄
So the Dictator and Chief doesn’t like when his words are being quoted? 😂.
Typical nassistic attitude, always trying to control the narrative.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this man and Donald Trump are best friends in the shadows!
They love to run their mouth about everything, and then expect people to have no say about the dumbest that comes out of their dirty 👄..what jokers. 😂
While I cannot comment on the specific allegations to which the Prime Minister referred, I can say that Darren Matthew Ward of Twin Island Media is one of the finest, the fairest and most balanced journalist and media personnel we have in this country by far. Matthew-Ward is hard hitting, fair and take no sides but he consistently ask hard questions and I can understand that his questioning sometimes make some politicians uncomfortable. I would prefer to have Darren Matthew-Ward doing any interview in Antigua than any other media personnel barring none!
Let’s just say, in #Garrat_Style, Mr. PM – “Do so, no lub so!” And, to add insult to injury, “no baddah, luk fu #blak_sheep aftah dark.”

Having read this article, I went back and listened to the comments of our Prime Minister on
Saturday 3rd February 2024.
I understood him to have said that he made certain comments to a just appointed American Ambassador/Diplomat, comparing a situation between America and Russia (back in the 1960’s) with the present Russia and Ukraine war.
Yesterday (Saturday 10th February 2024) our Prime Minister was clear that he has a Constitutional Right to Freedom of Speech and I agree with him on that point.
What I think would have been good for our Prime Minister to have done when he made his initial comments on Saturday 3rd February 2024 is he should have been ‘PELLUCID’ that he was expressing HIS PERSONAL OPINION to the just appointed American Ambassador/Diplomat and he was not speaking on behalf of Antigua & Barbuda.
On such a sensitive topic as this, I would expect our government to have had some consultation with us to form a policy decision on such a topic.
Ultimately, when discussions are mis-understood by ‘powerful first world countries’ it is the poor and ordinary citizens of a developing country who suffers from the sanctions etc that could be brought to bear.
@Beef did you miss the statement he made some time ago on rumshop radio?
“I am the top and when I speak, I speak on behalf of the government”
in other words, I am the government and the government is me. Let no dam dog bark.
Gaston makes moronic statements on his radio program, gets pummeled by the public for those statements and then tries to blame everybody else including the media for his own words.
@ Audley Dave Joseph (a.k.a. Beef)
What you understand is what you understand.
But what was supposed to be a clarification, illustrates Gaston Browne is unfamiliar with Eastern European history as well as global politics.
There is no defense for Gaston Browne, when he is caught making stupid ass statements; especially to the newly appointed US ambassador with whom he was brown-nosing (excuse the pun).
To the degree that the US was considering placing an Embassy in Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne statement as is being argued here is infantile; and may very much be the reason for the Embassy to be placed elsewhere.
Making such as statement as he claims comparing US and Russia in the 60s to Russia and Ukraine is indicative that he is a dunce, when it comes to geopolitics. That what a Head of State have Ambassadors for to guide him in their discourses with foreign officials
What Gaston does not know is back in the 60s: the geo-politics was the USSR vs The USA and the West.
Ukraine was part of the USSR and it was in Ukraine where most of the USSR nuclear armament were located. Ukraine was the industrial heartland of the USSR. Some portions of Ukraine were actually part of Russia.
Now that the USSR no longer exists, and the young people of Ukraine staged Maiden (look it up) wanting to be part of the West; The Russin Federation (Russia/Putin) objects to Ukraine with its nuclear facilities and is the industrial and farming underpinning of was the USSR; as well as critical assets such as warm water access to the Black Sea much of which was formally the USSR.
Bottomline, Russia has a problem with one of its former satellite states (Ukraine) becoming part of NATO essentially making NATO to formidable force against which Russia cannot stand up.
Adding to injury as Putin just told the American, who interviewed him Bill Clinton promised him Russia can join NATO then Clinton changed his mind.
Back in the 60s it was Capitalism vs. Communism. Today, Russia is a communist/autocratic country which practices a hybrid form of capitalism like China.
Most of the software being used globally were coded by Ukraine engineers and as Putin ironically said 5 – 6 years ago “the country that controls AI controls the world”. Ukraine software engineers and do this work for pennies compare to engineers and in Boston, New York and Pali
The Ukrainian young engineers, many of whom were working on AI projects of machine learning algorithms as well as Ukraine females who were surrogate mothers for Americans who could not afford Hollywood priced surrogacy.
They young people went to in the streets at the main Square demonstrating to be part of the West. (NATO)
Being a part of the West, they would be better compensated and have brighter futures. That is the reason they stage Maiden, which spooked Putin.
Ukraine joining NATO would not only be for Russia adding insult to injury as well as spell the demise of the Russian Federation
So the Prime Minister has a Constitutional Right to Freedom of Speech, and you agree with him on that point.
You and he seem to think he is the only one who has that right, given his propensity to have attorneys sending out letters to his political opponents.
When he is caught making stupid ass statements, they should be left alone for he has freedom of speech to sound like an ignoramus.
Making such as statement as he claims comparing US and Russia in the 60s to Russia and Ukraine is indicative that he is a duncesnes (if there is such a word) when it comes to geopolitics.
Back in the 60s It was the USSR vs USA and the West. Ukraine was part of the USSR and where all the nuclear armament were located for the USSR.
Now that the USSR no longer exists, and Ukraine had Maiden (look it up) where young Ukraine’s wanting to be part of the West, The Russin Federation objects to Ukraine with its nuclear facilities and is the industrial heartland of was formally the USSR.
On another note, it would be equally stupid for a Prime Minister to say he was expressing HIS PERSONAL OPINION to the just appointed American Ambassador/Diplomat and he was not speaking on behalf of Antigua & Barbuda.
If not he as the Prime Minister; then who Rodney Williams as head of State?
Part 2. will be The Freedom of Speech analysis, to follow later.
The bottom line is NATO is a threat to Russia, while russia is threat to no one.The goal of the west is to use NATO to destroy russian so that they can have one world order.
@Antiguanman8.
Spare a little time to surprise yourself and discover that Russia is just the opposite of what you claim, that Russia is a threat to no one. No other country, at least since WW2, has invaded or occupied other countries than Russia. I leave you to confirm or deny this fact after you have done your research. NATO was formed in 1949 after WW2 for countries to protect themselves against aggressive and predatory nations like the Soviet Union, now Russia or The Russian Federation or Russia. NATO is a defensive alliance, not an aggressive or predatory one. Ask yourself why so many countries specially those that border Russia have joined or are eager to join NATO, the answer is what I have just pointed out. Countries like Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have joined joined NATO for the obvious reason namely, to protect themselves against Russian aggression. Sweden is now on the way to becoming a member but is being denied membership for now due to Turkey’s objection though it is only a matter of time before Sweden becomes a member. There lies Putin’s problem: He cannot invade any country that is a member of NATO as an attack on any NATO country is an attack on all and if he dares to do so would invite a response that would do him no good whatsoever. Has NATO ever invaded or attacked any country? You can reply and name just one. With Putin, it’s ‘Evil thinks what evil does’, that’s his problem; all those countries and others which he would like swallow up are now members of NATO – very frustrating for him!
Antiguans kept quiet; except for a few who remembered Israel complicity in apartheid Soufh Acrica.
Gaston comments on the European War and there is a big uproar.
Non Alignment my people… only then you can speak truth and sleep.
Gaston is not non-aligned. He is just stupid. Now he is putting his foot further into his throat. Further, and in the future, engage your brain before using your mouth. I am only giving you this advice because your words could hurt all of us
Israel supplied arms to South Africa during Arparthied rule and ALP facilitated the transit of arms from Colombia(?) to South Africa too via St John’s Harbour. This is the most shameful and abhorrent act ever committed by a Caribbean people. Remember the Blom Cooper inquiry into this disgraceful and shameful episode? Never, ever forget. Sometimes I wonder if that heinous crime is the reason why we are burdened with the Creative Enricher. We are now paying the price.
Gaston Browne has made a concerted effort to undermine democratic institutions; and consolidate power since winning the Parliamentary majority in 2014.
On social media as well as his own radio station he is cooky, rude and toddler-like.
Should I have written this on social media he would be pinged about this thread and provide a nice little comment to prove everything I’ve said.
If by chance he controls himself the evidence is there to back up everything I have said.
One only has to review his reaction to Sir. Vivian a true National Hero. A man who makes us all proud to be Antiguans and Barbudans. The world is yet to know the impact that he has had in changing the course of history with regards to South African.
PM Browne is a pathological liar, a power drunk tyrant, a narcissist and extortionist amid intergovernmental melee. And yet Gaston Browne has the temerity to say people should be careful and not stir up discord.
A dirt bag creative enrichment millionaire, who has overseen a culture of greed riddled with ineptitude and corruption and inequity; now feeling the heat and is squealing like a pig.
A man who uses criminality, deceitful machinations and underhanded self-dealing, to enrich himself and his relatives while keeping the Country in a mediocrity trap of inequity.
When confronted he has a hissy fit with petulant, adolescent nonsense to entertain his supporters with simmering anger.
It’s always heartbreaking to hear individual being abused by this this person who suffers from narcissist personality disorder.
Protected speech only belongs to Gaston. When Gaston spews his bile and its “Freedom of Speech.” When others express themselves: “It’s not Freedom of Speech but “Defamation and Libel”?
@Brixtonian at el
Let’s be clear. The woman who attacked Nikki Pheonix was simply trying to curry favour with Max Hurst.
Any mediocre journalist would have questioned Cabinet Note briefing as Nikki did.
That woman is not a Jounalist.
She like many others who are dropout from their Country of origin, who arrive giving themselves titles and pseudo professional backgrounds. Most are imposter and Grifters.
They are migrants who call themselves ExPat” These individuals are part of the Conky-Joe community in Antigua and Barbuda.
Our culture has made it comfortable. We put value to the Conky-Joes over ourselves, and that’s a proven fact.
Your second paragraph about the UK immigrant being a “grifter” is spot on @ Country Man 👍🏾
@Antiguanman8
Elon Musk has just planted his first chip in human brain. The dystopian era is already here. Putin is very well aware that Russia is on the losing end of the New World order.
Putin main issue (he calls it denazification) is that the Ukraine scientific knowledge that came out of the Soviet Union educational system, is producing the data scientists which are driving the Western world economies and firepower.
Investment bankers and private equity firms have been using AI for the last 30 years.
Think about Micheal Bloomberg who used his computer science background (data science) after being fired by Solomon Brothers to mint himself into a billionaire.
AI was an everyday tool to data scientist and machine learning engineers. It was made available to everyone when ChatGPT was released in November 2023
Since 1978 over 100,000 Chinese students/scholars have been educated in the US. The overwhelming majority have returned to China with their US University advance degrees and stolen scientific information.
Putin teaming up with China is too late. The Country to focus on is India. That’s who Gaston and GOAB should have teamed with rather than selling its soul to China.
I’m reading through the China MOUs.
Did anyone take notice the copies provided by Gaston to the Antigua and Barbuda people are not signed by GOAB
Are these bogus documents? These seem like generic outline of intention to do business, and
not contract agreements.
Where are the stamps and the seals. Where is the internationally certified translators’ signature and seal?
Where in the World are the Opposition Parties?
Are they simply lazy or dumb that they have not provided independent analysis and offering their thoughts on the implications of these so-called agreements.
Where are the independent civil society organizations? Is the corruption and inequity so financially rewarding and so sweet?
I will not bother to ask where are the Ministers of Faith? They provide a weekly blessing to the Creative Enrichment Gathering call: CABINET
@ Audley Dave Joseph (a.k.a. Beef)
You write
“On such a sensitive topic as this, I would expect our government to have had some consultation with us to form a policy decision on such a topic”
First: Who are the us? Man in the street?
Second: When has the Gaston Browne’s Government consulted? Other than in cases where a doner says consultation is a prerequisite for getting the money.
Three: Are you are resident of Antigua and Barbuda?
Four: Did I miss the Nemo of Government consultation?
Five: Which Government do you know that has held consultations on diplomacy?
Six: Building housing on land that have be historically used for farming purposes a not only is misguided but certainly needed some consolation.
