The Professional Standards Unit of the police force is investigating a complaint made by a Belmont family last week.

The family of Sharon Williams filed a complaint with the force after dozens of police officers stormed into their home in search of a relative.

Police Inspector Frankie Thomas told a radio programme over the weekend that the matter is under investigation.

The allegation is that the police officers stormed into their home last week, destroyed property and terrorised residents.

Family members also alleged that the police threatened to kill a relative, assaulted another and forced a firearm in the hands of a young man.

The police are reportedly trying to identify their colleagues involved in the alleged act.
