Police Investigate Drowning of Canadian Citizen

The Police at Willikies are continuing to probe an apparent drowning incident of a 68 years-old Canadian male at Devil’s Bridge in the early morning hours of Saturday 8 April.

The man’s body was fished from the water by members of the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard and taken to the Coast Guard Base.

A medical doctor arrived on the scene and pronounced the body dead approximately 8:42 am.

The deceased reportedly arrived in Antigua on April 3 with other family members and was staying at the Pineapple Beach Hotel. He was due to leave on April 10.

  1. Very high winds out there. So sad about this. Tough way for this family to end their vacation.
    Deepest condolences.

  2. A very dangerous area that needs a perimeter barrier set up….visitors would have a tendency to get carried away by the beauty literally by the strong winds.

  3. Condolences to the family ..

A post on Instagram on the page of lady koture boutique was brought to my attention. This was posted just 3 days ago. This woman was walking across devils bridge in high heels and posing for the camera .. a few people commented on the post how dangerous it was and she responded by saying she does it all the time.

This behavior for a grown woman is disrespectful and reckless and honestly I believe that someone should look into the matter.

These places are very dangerous and people putting themselves in danger seem very irresponsible, especially for an adult.
This could only lead to other people being copy cats.

I could not believe seeing this woman walk the rugged rocks of devils bridge in high heels with the rough seas splashing only for an instagram post.

Our beautiful island has many sites but people need to be responsible.
