Prime Minister Gaston Browne has called on members of the Antiguan and Barbudan diaspora to invest in land and real estate opportunities back home, assuring them that no barriers exist to their participation.

Speaking on his weekly radio programme on Pointe FM, Browne said there are “no restrictions” preventing nationals living overseas from purchasing property in Antigua and Barbuda.

He cited recent examples of foreign-based citizens successfully acquiring land, including a woman who recently donated medical supplies and was allocated a parcel of land in return.

“There’s no limitation,” Browne said. “People living in the U.S. or elsewhere have been buying land here without issue.”

The Prime Minister urged overseas Antiguans and Barbudans to take advantage of available land, especially in areas earmarked for development such as Shell Beach and Rural North.

He warned that hesitation could see locals missing out on prime locations, which may later be snapped up by foreign investors.

Browne added that the government is currently acquiring land in key areas, installing infrastructure, and reselling the lots at subsidised rates to ensure greater access for citizens.

The appeal comes amid a broader push by the administration to boost economic empowerment and encourage property ownership among nationals at home and abroad.

  1. A barrier does exist. I asked his administration to purchase land for my business endeavor and another for me personally, and ABLP chief of staff sitting on a couch at the PM Browne’s office said I need to write a proposal to give to him for me to USE MY OWN MONEY TO PURCHASE LAND. This was in about 2023.

If you want to achieve anything, ABLP will never let you. You have to wait until another administration enter office to have a chance at buying land in Antigua and Barbuda if you are an Antiguan and Barbudan who want to succeed, progress and be happy.

One ABLP MP ask me to define victim and then another ABLP person said write a proposal for me to simply buy land. How many of you must write a proposal to simply buy land?

Then the leader of ABLP, PM Browne, said, “I can’t help you”. Said it to me and my aunt. The same aunt that follow him to the end of the earth, and probably to hell if he was going there.

Antigua and Barbuda and Antiguans and Barbudans, in general, are not better because of ABLP. ABLP family and essential friends are better because of ABLP.

    • You are asking to buy government land. You go to the PM’s office and you go to the Ministers. What business dd you want to start that you wanted to buy “subsidized” government land at a reduced rate? And then if your business fails (God forbid), you now have two pieces of land to sell at a profit? Submit the business plan or the proposal as requested. Why not? If you were going to the bank to borrow money for a business, they would ask for the same thing.

Everyone just want to circumvent the rules and when they can’t, they cry victimization.

This part of your comment shows how self-entitled you think you are……
“Then the leader of ABLP, PM Browne, said, “I can’t help you”. Said it to me and my aunt. The same aunt that follow him to the end of the earth, and probably to hell if he was going there.”

And you think because your aunt supports him that you are entitled to anything you ask for?
      Self-entitled to the max…..

  2. Ok so Ron saunders has ask you to reach out to the antiguan diaspora and offer them opportunity of owning lands in ANTIGUA to quell future protest?

  3. Ignorant people, I do not want not a discount or ask for a discount. Just like when I brought in things to donate to the police/government, I paid the duty and transportation. I went to buy land for full market value and this man do not need or intend to borrow money from the bank.

This man simply wanted to buy land to put my office. I do not want nothing free or discounted. I am not like you ABLP people that keep begging and block people from achieving because you are demanding more money for free after getting sone for free.

Nobody needs to write a proposal to buy land that is available for purchase from the government at fair market value? You do that when people are begging you something. I am not begging, I am paying in full, at once, in cash or check or wire, which ever the government wants.

  4. Promises are gift to fools.
Gaston Browne to the diaspora: ivest in land and real estate opportunities back home, assuring them that no barriers exist to their participation.
If I’m going to buy land in areas being developed and supposedly it will have paved roads and underground infrastructure? Bring abroad first the Antigua Counsolate office have the details?
If I’m abroad where is the proposed master plan?
    What is the process?

  5. Great advise.
However some of us have applied to CHAPA multiple times and every time is a different story.
Oh…The last time I was told they could not find my application so I need to reapply.
At the time they had earmarked lands in Jennnings and Glanvilles.
That was 4 years ago and I am still waiting.
