Prime Minister Gaston Browne has condemned as “senseless” the killing of Carrisa Chandler, 30, of New Winthropes.
The former State Insurance employee was shot and killed on May 23 during a domestic dispute with her boyfriend, Tedson Knowles, 44.
Browne said: “this homicide was clearly a senseless killing.”
He added: “I do not understand which male would want to be fighting with a woman with a gun. To be fighting with a woman in the first instance is bad but to have a gun is just unheard of.”
“I am not here to condemn anyone but just to say it was really a senseless killing,” the prime minister said.
The incident allegedly stemmed from a domestic dispute between both parties earlier the said morning.
Police have since recovered the alleged firearm used in the incident. Knowles is now in police custody assisting them further with their investigations.
Browne said he called the father of the woman to sympathise with the family.
“To have a child predecease you must be a pretty difficult experience and I recognize it was a very impactful situation for him but I’ve asked him to remain strong and to know that he is in our prayers. And anything at all we can do for him he can count on our continued support
But at the same time, it is important for him notwithstanding these very difficult circumstances to be strong for the rest of the family.”

Someone plz explain to me the meaning of “be strong” in the context of grief. Does it mean that the grieving person must “hold it in” or “keep it together” instead of allowing the 5 stages of grief to take place?
“There can be no healing without hurting”
And if he as a man is told to be strong for his family, who will be strong for him? Men again being told to suppress their feelings and fake “masculinity” based on the dictates of society?
“Have Mercy,” You are a shining example of someone who had nothing to say, but wants something to say. Insecure and looking for attention. People of all walks of life,of all nations,class and creed has faced the loss of a loved one,some through natural causes,some of various diseases and some tragically as this one.. There is a natural process to grief,which everyone goes through,telling someone to be strong does not mean you’re telling the person he/she should not grieve,it simply means you pray for the person to have the strength to go through the difficult process without they themselves completely braking. It’s the best advice since the past can never be reversed.. For those of us who believe in a higher power-Faith and hope are the foundations for that strength..
I don’t understand the “assisting the police with the investigation”. Why is he assisting the police if they arrested him for the crime?
It seem to be a term used,whenever there is a suspect in custody-until such time when they do have all the evidence established to actually bring charges against the individual..
