Pringle Won, Allyou Lost

In the most difficult circumstance, Jamale Pringle won his seat and will serve in Parliament. He will serve in the official post of Leader of the Opposition.

The rest of you lost. Badly.

For anyone other than Pringle to claim the mantle of leader of the party would be a slap in the face to the voters who elected him.

It is the fault of others in the party who undermined Pringle and created this sense of division which was capitalized on by the ABLP.

Those people who created division should not be rewarded for their lack of loyalty. They all lost.

Allyou lost. Pringle won. Pringle must continue as leader!

  1. It is that myopic thinking and lack of pragmatism that will continue to affect the fortunes of the UPP. The concept of the Greater Good has eluded the consciousness of the leadership of the UPP.

  2. This dnt make sense what the hype for just cause u all win this seat

  3. This is pure kool-aid drinking delusional nonsense but what else do you expect from some of these UPP supporters living in their unrealistic fantasyland?

Predictably, Pringle’s lack of education, lack of people skills, temper tantrums, non-stop internal drama and departures and defections of dozens of former members doomed the UPP over a year ago. The majority of Antiguans wanted nothing to do with that chaos and proved that emphatically at the polls. Pringle will be resigning soon; every rational thinking UPP supporter knows there is no hope for the opposition with him at the helm.

Be under no illusion, the people of Antigua have spoken and the people of Antigua have won.

  4. I hate politics.
So much effort and we still can’t have a blended parliament.
The same people are the ones who suffer.

  5. Again the way UPP self destruct in under 3 years needs to be studied. How do you go from losing an election by 6 votes to losing almost all of your gained seats and in most cases 2 to 1 losses. Just how?!!! Even Richard Lewis a very strong candidate lost in all the boxes and not by any small amount. And before the supporters start don’t come with no ” buy vote” rhetoric without the evidence to back up that claim. UPP needs to disband rebrand can come again and for the love of God if you are going to run with seasoned politicians at least make them likable. UPP fails to realize likability is a key factor in politics. Evening qualified is on thing but if you are hunty and stuck up it will not resonate with people. I hope UPP takes the time introspect themselves and work on their weakness.

  6. This article is so correct.

Let them continue to try to undermine Pringle, the duly elected leader of the U.P.P..

They will continue to reap what they sow. God nar sleep.

  7. Oh boy. It must be hard for some people like Brix and other UPP well wishers.
I wonder what they have to say this time around. All that bad mouth talking didn’t help. Bitterness must be eating out their heart. And this result with so many newcomers on the ABLP slate. Like Kizz taking out Bowen. Amazing!!!. Smith taking out their come back leader Lovell. Michael Joseph taking out their de facto leader Lewis. Only Lamin wasn’t able to pull it off. But that didn’t surprise me at all. The PM needs to rethink whether he is the right horse to run. Drop him from running ever again on a Labour Party ticket. He had his change he blow it. And when it comes to Barbuda. Stop running over there. You’re damaging the ABLP brand. You do not need a member of parliament over there. You are PM of ALL. Antigua and Barbuda.

  8. Pringle can’t continue as leader of the UPP, but he will be leader of the opposition by default. The problem is not Pringle or his detractors in the UPP. The problem is the slave mentality of many black Antiguans, and unfortunately there is no quick fix for that.

  9. This kind of thinking is exactly why UPP finds itself in the position it’s in today. It’s completely disconnected from reality. Let’s be clear—Pringle did lose support and nearly lost his seat. That alone should have been a loud wake-up call. The warning signs have been there for quite some time, and what we’re seeing now was inevitable.
Instead of acknowledging that, some people prefer to stay in denial and push narratives that do nothing to help the party move forward. Honestly, individuals with this mindset are doing more harm than good and should stay far away from influencing the direction of UPP.
What the party needs now is a serious overhaul—starting with leadership. There must be a willingness to make tough decisions. That includes moving on from figures like Alister Thomas and others who are no longer adding value, and bringing in fresh, energetic, and forward-thinking candidates who can actually connect with people.
There are still a few individuals worth keeping—Makala Parker, Adrian Williams, Harold Lovell, Pringle, Richard Lewis, France, and Shuggy—but beyond that, the party needs renewal. New candidates, new leadership, and a new chairman who can rebuild trust and credibility.
If UPP doesn’t take this moment seriously and make real changes, it risks becoming even more irrelevant.

  10. These U.P.P. Candidates should be dropped:

Alex Browne, Alister Thomas, Kelton Dalso, Jonathan Joseph, Richard Lewis, Harold Lovell, Sherfield Bowen and Kelvin ‘Shugy’ Simon.

    Let the rebuilding begin.

  11. Pringle didn’t win because of his individual character he won because of his party if you follow elections the have been that way even after Massiah switch from UPP to DNA she didn’t even pull 1/4 of the votes she got under UPP trace back even further the last time it was lost was in 1989 after PLM mash up and still possibility bad the effects of that. Happening.

This election was won and lost by party votes UPP were disorganized, party issues and infighting openly for years leader isn’t favoured by public or party and even the policies were bad and didn’t even adapt to ABLP actually going things like the clinic outpost plans, free education and national health insurance say they will continue those plans. It’s a reflection of the lack of belief in UPP as a whole and the many public issues they had.

  12. Pringle is not ready for leadership, he cannot lead his way out of a brown paper bag. This once humble man has become a self absorbed narcistic person like Gaston Browne. The UPP needs rebranding with people who is for country not self aggrandizement. I am not loyal to any party so you can come for me if you like. Antigua can do better and needs to form a reputable opposition as we need a democracy not autocracy so that the people can really flourish.

  13. No problem @Less We Forget. I’ll be the bigger man and accept the UPP were well and truly beaten. I think we can all agree when we had the opportunity to replace our leadership at the last UPP convention, we made a major mistake.

I thought so at the time.

Anyway, congratulations on a remarkable win.

Just ensure that YOUR Prime Minister keeps his promises of rebuilding the country and unifying all citizens of Antigua & Barbuda 🇦🇬

As a Patriot I hope supporters like you make sure that Gaston Browne doesn’t regress after this win.

    Again hearty congratulations 👏🏾

  14. @ Brixtonian

As hard as it is for you to swallow, GB is OUR PM. You may not have voted for ABLP and you may hate the man, but he represents YOUR country and again he is OUR/YOUR PM.

I agree with you that UPP has been spiraling out of control for years, and the sad part is that everyone saw it but them. They continued to exist in whatever bubble that they created and didn’t realized that they were losing and alienating voters.

They should’ve had caretakers on the ground since the last election for people to get to know them and be comfortable voting and supporting them.

I hope they do not get discouraged though, as every country needs a functioning opposition party. They now need to start from scratch. A clean slate. There is a long road ahead, but one that they can travel. They MUST travel it.
