As the Antigua Trades & Labour Union challenges government’s mandatory vaccination in court, the Prime Minister Gaston Browne has called for the removal of the top brass of the union.
He was speaking in parliament moments ago about the AT&LU which is aligned to his Labour Party.

I’m not going to play that I’m familiar with the constitution of the AT&LU, however I do believe that it’s highly improper for you to step in and attempt to manipulate the to brass of the union because they disagree with you.
If you go down this road, will we see a repeat of this if they disagree with you, or any other person in government, on the next occasion? How can they be independent and operate without fear of any Antin from the ALP if the AT&LU take a stance that’s not in line with the party?

Wow! the Antigua Labour Party that has always declared itself a workers organization that fights for the interest of workers is now turning against the Antigua Trades and Labour Union (ATLU) and its leadership because the ATLU is standing up for the rights of workers. Things are really falling apart in this country.

CANOPY MAN I am not vaccinated and I am not anti-vax. It is my decision and I do not advise anyone whether to vaccinate or not. I generally live a very healthy life and also exercise. I believe my immune system is extremely strong. I also follow the covid protocols religiously so as to reduce the probability of contracting the virus. However, I really do not understand what turns on my vaccination status.

Neither the PM nor the unions are standing up for workers. What an absolute disgrace. The union leadership, instead of leading and insisting their membership get vaccinated, as any responsible leadership should do, have fallen in behind the lowest level of their membership who are all trumpers and/or conspiracy nuts. At the same time, the PM, who also cares nothing for workers, is demanding his mandatory vacc scheme goes ahead because his business masters have the whip hand to him and think they can avoid lockdown that way. Workers, stand up for yourselves!

What I do wish is that workers weren’t automatically made a part of a union. I understand that to create a united front on shared issues it makes sense to have one union representing workers of a department but workers should be given the chance to opt-out or choose another representative. I don’t want a thing to do with these jokers at ANY union because I have seen them fumble one too many times.

In a way, the union executive (the whole executive, especially Wigley George) deserve what they are getting because they (at least the majority) have been kissing the political party ass and walking around with ‘brown lips’.
I heard ‘a politician’ told a few members of the union executive that he will have them removed AND HE WILL STARVE THEM IN THIS COUNTRY.

When I have to decide between voting for the A.B.L.P. that says’ if my people do not vaccine they cannot work for government or continue working for government’, which means that they will not be able to take care of themselves and their families financially, OR vote for an opposition party, THAT IS A NO-BRAINER FOR ME.
I AM VOTING FOR ONE OF THE OPPOSITION PARTIES.

The Trade Unions in Antigua are all jokers. In the first instance they sit back and let the dog rule supreme. Now this is their reward. Never you help lame dogs over wall. They will turn around and bite you. I am sure many of them have heard that famous saying before.
Now he is degrading them in the worse way. But I am very sorry for the woman who shares a bed with him at night. God protect her, but they also say what you buy you wear.
The A.T. & L.U. Executive is ‘not fit for purpose’?

If I was on that union executive, I nor anyone under my influence could never vote for a party that you lead in any future elections (mark my words).
All of the nation’s people and the Unions should come together and file for a Judiciary Review. File a Class Action Suit while your at it as well. Someone is clearly out of their lane and depth. Stand up and set the precedence for others to follow!!
In my opinion,the ATLU made a grave error in judgment. When they lapped their tails and backdown from having the members stay at home on Monday. That gave Gaston Browne the chances and openings he was looking for to trample all over them. Now he is saying they should all go. When you have someone like Gaston Browne’s neck under water. Even though he is kicking you would want to keep his head there,under water.
And as citizens of Antigua we call for you to be removed from being prime minister. Evilness.
