CABINET NOTES: The Cabinet received a report from the Junior Minister in the Ministry of Education, Sports and the Creative Industries who shared details of the planning, execution and funding for a number of events that are on the calendar for 2024.

First and foremost is Cricket World Cup which requires significant upgrade in the facilities that are being used for the games and for practice.

The Sir Vivian Richards Stadium is undergoing significant upgrades with resources coming almost exclusively from the Treasury of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.

The Antigua Recreation Grounds (ARG) is to become a practice venue for the teams that will play matches at the two official venues—the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium and the Coolidge International Cricket Grounds. Significant resources will be required for readying the ARG.

The Cabinet made a pledge to provide the resources necessary so that Cricket World Cup will be a success.

The Cabinet learned of the significance of fully funding Carnival 2024, since a new standard has been established where prize monies are distributed immediately following the events.

Outstanding amounts from previous years will be settled a little at a time given resource limitations.

Carnival Media Launch and Sponsorship Cocktail will take place on April 25th at the Hodges Bay Club. The event will be aired live.

The overall plans for Carnival 2024 will be presented to Cabinet in two weeks for funding approval.

  1. Is this another attempt to, “put on put”? No one should buys this. They find 💰 for everything else. Let them find the money else, no carnival.

  2. What about backpay since 2018 when will that.be paid? It’s wickedness that people work for their monies and six (6) years later people still can’t ger their monies. It’s a shame and they say we are economic power house yeah right!!!

  3. Government can’t pay carnival prizes monies but find money to resurface race track and buy a building for 800k. Gaston until you really show us you care you’re gone I can never vote for you again. The people of this country are not your top priority only your pockets.

  4. Persons spent their personal cash to purchase items for Carnival. They then entered a competition and won. When the time comes for them to collect their rewards for winning, nutten dey.It would then take years for them to collect. So why the Festivals Ministry do not budget for Carnival. With enough monies allocated to pay all bills when Carnival done.Would those in charged work and not get paid for years and continue to perform their duties.I would think not.

  5. I will continue to say it until the day this government is voted out of office, because it’s the truth, and this governments actions are impacting so many people’s pockets in a negative way. This government doesn’t give a damn about y’all, the proof is in the pudding.

This is not a joke out here, it’s real life that people have to deal with on a everyday basis.

Now if your best friend owe you money, and haven’t paid you back, but you pass a whore house and see them in there splurging and frolicking away having a grand ole time, you would call this person the worse bastard in the whole world right?

    Well no difference here.

That’s what this government is, a total barstud.. both they and their supporters on here making a big fuss about the Minister’s deserving a raise, while in the mean time they owe the common hard working man, thats having a hard time keeping up with his bills.

A mark of any good person or government, is to make sure they pay their debt before they pay themselves, that’s the mark of a good person.

This government wants to live high on borrowed money, and not paying back their debts. 6billion economy my ass, when you can’t even pay the common man what you owe him.

All this bragging and bragging is just sickening if you ask me. Pay the pensioner’s man, pay the carnival workers and participants..pay your damn debt Gatson..

But hey, crooks like to hold onto money, they don’t like to pay, that’s how they stay rich.

Bloody hypocrites that keep lying to the Antiguan people about how well the island is doing..All damn lies and deception.

    I’m tired of it.
