    • We are a democracy, not a dictatorship. Any government needs opposition so that the best interest of the citizens are served.

      • Why wait until the day you need to go to parliament to challenge the Speaker’s decision.
        They have lawyers at their disposal to advise them accordingly.
        And even if the speaker doesn’t have the authority, the president can issue the same rule. And what then? Their argument not to show their proof of vaccination is flawed. Eventually they will have to show it.

        • FROM THE SIDELINE the President of the Senate does not have the authority either to prevent Senators from attending Parliament if they are not vaccinated. In any case, this whole issue started by the Speaker of the House is pure nonsense because I understand that all the members of both Houses are vaccinated. I really do not know what this is all about and the Senators were right not to show any damn card. Is Antigua and Barbuda a serious country or a charade?

  7. Sadly politics have infected these hypocrites so much that becomes so blinded with ignorance. Be part of the solution and not part of the problem. The opposition senators are playing dolly house political games. Why as so called leaders refusing to demonstrate the vaccinations status but still they are for protocols. They can fools their brainless blind followers who have lost their ways in spouting foolishness and ignorance. The majority of Wadadlians can see straight through their nakedness. Hope they don’t get paid for their ignorance.

  8. Does the Speaker of the House in Antigua and Barbuda controls both Houses of Parliament? Is the Speaker injecting himself into an area that he has no jurisdiction over?

  9. Antigua and Barbuda is really a cartoon country and might become the laughing stock of the region and perhaps the world. Day in and day out the Cabinet and government officials do things that they have no authority to do. Now, it is the turn of the Speaker of the House, the supposedly learned Sir Gerald. The Speaker of the House has no authority to order that MPs must show proof of vaccination in order to enter Parliament. The Speaker has clearly lost it and should retire forthwith.

      PARLIAMENTARY POWER:

      While a ‘…House Speaker and Senate President’ has ‘CONTROL- (Enforcement of Standing Orders)’ over the proceedings and conduct of Members of Parliament, ‘ONLY’ Parliament and Parliamentarians have power over themselves.

      QUESTION 2:

      ‘…Had someone, overnight, became ‘…Overly Power Drunk.’
