By Winston Williams Jr.
I congratulate the Hon Rawdon Turner on his resounding victory in the St. Peter by-election.
His victory is a testament to both his authentic community connection and his calm, mature disposition, which strongly resonated with the people.
As he steps into his new roles as MP and Minister of Urban and Social Transformation, I wish to share some thoughts on his comprehensive manifesto, which advanced a refreshing blueprint for community-driven development that merits close attention.
What distinguishes Turner’s vision is its emphasis on collective progress. Rather than imposing top-down solutions, his manifesto outlines a framework for community-driven development.
The proposed business hubs in Gunthropes, Pares, and Parham exemplify this approach, offering young entrepreneurs affordable spaces to grow their businesses while contributing to local economic vitality.
The successful completion of the first hub in Parham already stands as testament to his ability to deliver on promises.
Turner’s innovative approach to community ownership is particularly evident in his plans for Parham Harbour.
By proposing a phased development of a marina that begins with a community-owned gas station, he’s created a pathway for residents to become stakeholders in their community’s economic growth.
This model of development – where local residents aren’t just beneficiaries but active participants – sets a new standard for community development projects across Antigua and Barbuda.
The breadth of Turner’s vision extends beyond economic initiatives. His commitment to establishing community centres in Gunthropes, Pares, Parham, Paynters, and Weirs acknowledges the crucial role of social infrastructure in building vibrant communities. These centres, combined with his plans for green spaces and weekend markets, aim to weave together the social fabric that makes communities thrive.
Education and youth development feature prominently in Turner’s agenda, reflecting an understanding that sustainable progress requires investing in future generations. His proposed mentorship program, linking retired professionals with young students, demonstrates creative thinking about how to leverage existing community resources for collective benefit.
Transforming his ambitious plans into reality will require not just political will but sustained community engagement and resource mobilization. Yet, Turner’s track record of delivering tangible results, combined with his deep understanding of his constituency, suggests he possesses the necessary skills to conquer any challenges along the way.
As an aspiring representative for St. Mary’s North, I find Hon Turner’s approach to constituency development, with community partnership at its core, both inspiring and affirming.
His inclusive community development plans resonate deeply with my own vision for St. Mary’s North, where I hope to build upon the extraordinary foundation laid by Sir Molwyn Joseph over three decades of dedicated service.
What particularly strikes me about Turner’s vision is how it exemplifies the principle of “Better Together” that lies at the heart of my own approach to leadership.
It is my strong belief that progress is not merely something delivered to a community, but something built together with it.
Turner’s emphatic victory shows that when we truly partner with our constituents, listening to their insights and involving them in development decisions, we can create compelling pathways to sustainable progress that garner almost universal support.
He has fully embodied the kind of collaborative leadership for community development that I envision will be taken to the next level in St. Mary’s North – where every resident has a stake in our shared future and every voice contributes to our collective success.

Antigua labor party government is the most corrupt government in the world!
So, go ahead bury ar you head in the sand.
People can change. Even political parties can change. It’s refreshing that politicians are coming up with good ideas for community development, listening to people etc. Of course it’s always important to keep an eye on how dollars are spent to minimize corrupt practices but hopefully our politicians are beginning to realize that leaving a lasting legacy of progress is more fulfilling in life than accumulating money to impress noone. We should encourage and support genuine efforts to develop communities.
Hope it all works out as planned. All voices heard. All hands on deck. Peaceful, inclusive progress.

It’s either one of two things or both;
You haven’t traveled much or you don’t read much. Is it one or both?
You never seem to contribute anything of substance.

Wow wow wow the Doctor of Dickhead Dave Ray the Bitch you know what is a bitch they do travel read a lot but don’t understand what they read don’t contribute nothing to nation building or national development Doc get involve
Really St Mary’s South Fencing I know we used to play the sport in our early days we used to call it sword fight we did not have any thing to protect our face or any part of our body it was just natural skill But you the Fence Man conspire to steal with your friends in the past remember your housing project that you place in someone authority that you lost remember that today the bathroom facilities at YASCO and more sporting facilities under your watch. Fence Man this is not a sporting event it is serious business
U & I AKA Straight Shooter don’t kill us this morning.
The homophobic, xenophobic, UWIphobic, truthphobic UPP and its demon horde of shitposters just can’t get over their very justified frustrations. The UPP is in its death spiral and everyone is clear on that, supporter or not.
This will only get worse in the months to come.
Some are forming a new party which will go nowhere.
Others are in talks with Harold Lovell to return, with Pringle discarded.
NONE of these nonsensical plans will bear fruit, so the anger and lashing out and neverending deflection will only multiply.
Everyone make sure your seat belts are securely fastened!
Fence Man growing up we used to play the sport of Fencing but we called it sword fight we used to cut sticks we did not have protective clothing we depend solely on our skill set I know that you have protection from prosecution for what you have done to this fair state time is the essence remember that investigation was carried out it not the end We the revolutionist will make sure justice is served Fence man how serious are you
Isn’t it interesting that the UPP is seeking the return of Harold Lovell, the man who authorized all the Fencing U & I is going on and on about?
How does the failing UPP live with itself?
Just about anyone who isn’t a dunce delusional blue coolaid drinker knows that the fencing was a finance and public works issue.
It will be interesting to see if UPP is willing to further decimate the spent shell called Harold Lovell in a poorly conceived attempt to attack Winston Williams.
I also note there is no evidence provided on the housing claim. Perhaps you are still investigating. Maybe you can bring us the findings of Baba and Pringle’s mega mansion while you’re at it. If only all of us could live high on the hog like Jamale Pringle does in exchange for collaborating to destroy his own party.
Let me get my popcorn.
