OECS Assembly Convenes For Its 5th Sitting On Wednesday

The Fifth Sitting of the OECS Assembly will be held virtually on Wednesday, June 16th 2021 under outgoing Chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Dominica, Rt. Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit.

The meeting will gather together OECS Heads of Government, Representatives from the Parliament of each Full Member State and the Legislature of each Associated Member State along with Members of the Opposition.

Special speakers of the Fifth Sitting of the OECS Assembly include the Director General of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus and the Acting Director of the Western Hemisphere Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mr. Nigel Chalk.

Special Speakers

Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was elected WHO Director-General for a five-year term by WHO Member States at the Seventieth World Health Assembly in May 2017. In doing so, he was the first WHO Director-General elected from among multiple candidates by the World Health Assembly, and was the first person from the WHO African Region to head the world’s leading public health agency.

 

Mr Nigel Chalk is the Acting Director of the Western Hemisphere Department of the International Monetary Fund. Since joining the IMF, he has worked on a range of emerging market countries, including Russia, Korea, Brazil, and Argentina.
