The cancer center, which has changed ownership, is set to become one of the premier facilities in the Caribbean.

It will offer both traditional cancer treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy, as well as innovative new technologies aimed at improving patient outcomes.

A team is already on the island to begin training in these new technologies, highlighting the urgency and commitment to making this center operational as soon as possible.

Prime Minister Browne shared that some patients have already undergone treatment with the new technology, which does not eliminate cancer but significantly reduces its growth.

In some cases, the treatment has even led to noticeable shrinkage of cancerous lesions. Dr. John cited a case where a patient experienced a significant reduction in lesions after just one treatment, underscoring the promise of these advanced therapies.

The Cancer Center is expected to foster an ecosystem for technological innovation in Antigua and Barbuda.

The center, backed by a venture capital firm, will not only focus on cancer treatments but also explore other medical technologies.

This move aims to position Antigua and Barbuda as a hub for medical technology in the region.

Additionally, the venture capital firm plans to establish a manufacturing and distribution center on the island, which will produce and distribute medical equipment to the rest of the Caribbean.

This development could further bolster the region’s healthcare infrastructure and economic growth.

Prime Minister Browne expressed gratitude to Dr. Joey John for his pivotal role in bringing these opportunities to Antigua and Barbuda.

Browne emphasized the importance of seizing opportunities and fostering innovation, stating that this cancer center represents a significant leap forward for the country’s healthcare system.

The revitalization of this state-of-the-art cancer center is a testament to the country’s commitment to providing cutting-edge healthcare services and becoming a leader in medical innovation in the Caribbean.

  1. Any such development is welcomed news but would Antiguans and Barbudans be able to afford the cost of getting treatment at the facility? I hope so. It is a known fact that health care is expensive the world over but I hope that the promises and presence of the facility in Antigua would bring some necessary relief and hope to Antiguans and Barbudans who have to pay huge sums for advanced medical treatment abroad or simply die due to their inability to afford treatment. We need assurances that Medical Benefits would act as surety and cover the expenses, at least a portion of it, for sick persons that are treated at this facility.

  2. Oh wow more white people. But doctor why is the cancer spreading even more? We don’t know miss but u have to do more radiation therapy . Money money moneeey
