…..Ministry of Education officials are reminding parents and guardians consent must be given in order for students to be vaccinated at schools.
The student vaccination schedule commences today (Wednesday) for one week at select public institutions of learning, making it convenient for pupils that are eligible to inoculate with the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to do so.
Director of Education, Clare Browne, says the Ministry expects some students will be accompanied to the vaccination sites by adults, but for those who are unaccompanied, they are required to produce a consent form that was distributed by schools signed by their parents/guardians, or a signed letter giving approval for the vaccine to be administered to the child/children.
The Pfizer vaccine will be distributed at Jennings Secondary School today and on Thursday and Friday, Ottos Comprehensive School and Sir Novelle Richards Academy respectively.
Princess Margaret, Antigua Girls’ High and All Saints Secondary Schools are listed for next week.
Students from other public and private institutions in the vicinity of those previously listed will be allowed to take the jab there.

Mr. PM, Please get us the Cuban vaccine!! You have so much mouth and waving your finger bully at us, why not wave that same finger and mouth of yours to WHO and CDC to approved our Caribbean scientists’ vaccine from Cuban. Let them know that your people are in dire need of the Cuban vaccine. Yes, vaccines are here on the island that we can choose from but we want Cuban vaccines just like we have Cuban nurses and doctors here. We have the right to say what we want because we hired you and your ministers to work for us. So, do the job or you get fired coming next election.
The Cuban vaccines might actually be effective in stopping transmission
No choice for yourselves but choice for your kids? Just mandate it also
When I went to school as a boy in Antigua.I got Vaccinated on a regular basis without Parental consent. They would march us all up to the Clinic in Gays Farm near Greenbay Primary School and give you the injection. Then you went home and tell your Parents. Why do you now need Parental consent? If it is the Law for all children to be Vaccinated in order to attend Schools in Antigua and Barbuda.
