CIWIL congratulates women elected to Antigua and Barbuda Parliament
The Caribbean Women in Leadership (CIWiL) Antigua and Barbuda National Chapter has congratulated two women elected to the House of Representatives following the 2026 General Election.
In an official statement, the organisation welcomed the election of Maria Bird Browne and Kiz Johnson, describing their success as a boost for women’s representation in politics.

CIWiL also paid tribute to all women who contested seats in the election, saying their participation strengthened democracy and helped expand opportunities for future female leaders.
“Your courage strengthens our democracy and widens the path for those who follow,” the statement said.
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the full and equal participation of women in political life across all parties and levels of governance.
CIWiL National Chair Marian Barbara Hesse Merchant signed the statement.
