Prime Minister Gaston Browne has called on United Progressive Party (UPP) Chair D. Gisele Isaac to resign following the party’s defeat in the April 30 general election, arguing that its leadership must take responsibility for the outcome.
Speaking on the Browne and Browne Show on Pointe FM on Saturday, Browne said Isaac had previously indicated she would step down and should now follow through.

“She had said to a number of her colleagues that she would resign, and now is the time for her to resign. I don’t know what she’s waiting for,” Browne said.
He added that Isaac should “leave office” and “resign as chairman of UPP” to allow the party to rebuild.
Browne’s remarks come after his Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) secured a decisive victory, winning 15 of 17 seats in Parliament, while the UPP suffered significant losses.
During the programme, Browne sharply criticized the opposition’s campaign and internal structure, describing the party as disunited and lacking direction. He said its leadership had failed to connect with voters and warned that continued resistance to change could further weaken the party.
The prime minister said the UPP now faces a critical moment and must undertake serious reform, including bringing in new leadership and talent, if it hopes to regain political relevance.
Isaac has not publicly responded to Browne’s comments.

Question? Why is this of concern to you? Gloat on the fact that you drew the disloyal over to your side with enough incentives and ensured you financially saw to it that they secured seats?
Spend your time chatting the way forward with the disloyal. Remember, once a defector, always a defector! It is their nature Solomon! Your job is to continue grading their hands and to keep them sufficiently subservient to remain!
Well, he has a point, but now that he has said it, she probably won’t, which will probably play right into his hands in the future, keeping the disunity within that side alive, I guess… They really need to figure out what they stand for and why people should select them instead. Even better they should get to know the electorate to understand what the people really want and offer that (and no it’s not money or bribes or freebies, despite what they might imagine). If those in charge of parties don’t care about what ALL the people want (not just their fanatical base), why are they in politics? Maybe just let other persons who DO care take over and find a workable system for ALL.
The entire leadership of the UPP must resign and make way for new leaders. We need new leaders, candidates, and a new radical vision for the country.
I get this, that Gaston is calling for the re-enforcement of Giselle and Pringle in that position as his proxy, so he is creating the situation for the fanatic blue supporters to validate it instead of making change.
Every new person the UPP recruited, Gaston waved his magic wand of bribery, and they jumped ship to the ABLP. The UPP has some good candidates, and none of them has been in government except for Harold Lovell. I believe the party’s executive members are the problem, starting with Gisele Isaac, Chuko Symistet, etc.
and should resign forthwith. Another thing in their party is how they recruit their candidates needs to change. Instead of branch members of each constituency choosing the candidate, the legally registered voters within the constituency should choose who they want to represent them in parliament, not the branch members!
Let me say it again.
Are y’all listening,?
Gatson Browne might be the best Politrickan in all of Antigua, and I give him that, because after all the man is good at tricking the masses, but he is no leader.
Infact I will surmise that he might be the worst leader in the Caribbean, and that’s the problem Antiguan’s are still burden with.
Many a better leaders in the Caribbean would have done way more with what has come into Antigua in the past 15 years, way better.
Again, there has been no other time in Antigua’s history that more money and investment came into the island than between the years of 2013-2025, none, and we are still way behind many of these other islands.
GB is not half the leader these leaders are. Holiness, Mia,Drew, Meade, Persad, Davis, and don’t even mention the PM of Anguilla, he is a genius.
And those are just a few.. these leaders lead, and when they stand up for their nations, people listen. GB is just a pig-headed bully, and there isn’t many people on his side that will refute that.
The man has been compared to the Donald on many a occasions, and even the Donald won twice in US elections, so go figure. Is he a great leader because he became president twice? Well don’t answer that.
So winning is not the mark of a good man or someone who can bring out the best in people.
From the days of the Pharaoh’s to the Donald himself, there have been many a leaders that have contributed heavily to the destruction of humanity, so revel in this win ABLP, because even the Jews said “Hail to Ceacar” for administering their hate for Jesus Christ!
Be warned fellow Antiguan’s , be warned.
Please hold your leaders accountable and stop turning a blind eye to corruption, please.
