ANTIGUA OBSERVER: A 42-year-old construction worker has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison on Friday for indecent assault of a 10-year-old girl.
Earlier this month, a jury convicted Damian Williams, a Jamaican national, on two counts of indecent assault.
The charges stemmed from incidents that occurred on March 29, 2022, when Williams was 39 years old.
Evidence presented during the trial revealed that he was residing as a tenant in the same household as the victim, her mother, and two younger siblings.
The mother, also a Jamaican national, had taken Williams in to help with her financial struggles, and charged him monthly for a room. She reportedly trusted him due to his connections with her child’s father and mutual friends.
According to testimony presented in court, Williams inappropriately touched the child on her buttocks or thigh area and kissed her near her lips.
After she told her mother of the assault, the police were subsequently notified and Williams was arrested and charged following an investigation.

I’m mad at people like this with their animal behavior. Mad because you going to Jail and hard working people taxes have to feed you. They should have a system in place where you work if you want to eat.

People should be charged for grooming minors too, whether they eventually make them spouses or mother. Same should happen when a grown man make his girlfriend ‘s daughter his girlfriend also; whether he’s in good social standing or a commoner.

This guy is innocent- that mother wanted money from him and he refused. The system needs to have court appointed lawyers. He represented himself and made a fool out of it because he had no money to pay a lawyer.
Only if he had any education, a big of common sense. He would not have ended up in Jail. Our court system is colonial and stupid. They don’t allow the accused to answer in a sentence to clarify anything. Say yes or no . Have you ever touched her. If you say no you are a liar. If you say yes they don’t allow you to explain. The prosecution thinks when ever they get a guilty verdict and jail sentence they have accomplished. They don’t matter if the person is an innocent fool , like this guy .

Why isn’t he being deported? When they get convicted of crimes, send them home.
