Dear Shugy
I am extremely sorry to hear about your loss in the Antigua’s 2026 general election.
At this moment I am still baffled and still trying to come to grips as to how you allow senator Dwayne George to defeat you.

In 2023, the record spoke for itself. Clearly, you were the people’s favorite and the perfect choice to be the representative for the constituency of St. Mary’s South.
Infact, in 2023 you created history in Antigua. You were victorious in two separate elections. The general & the by-election. It was evident that the ABLP candidates, Samantha Marshall & Dwayne George, were rejected by the masses and you, were the preference to be endorsed as the representative of the St. Mary’s South constituency.
Therefore Shugy, please tell me what went wrong for this 2026 election. The data from the polsters were also showing that you were leading by a very wide margin.
It is very unfortunate that after your endorsement as the representative, Dwayne George who was deemed as a loser and tagged with names like flip flop, Judas, betrayor etc is now the same Judas & betrayor been welcomed in open arms by the people who were once for you. From your perspective is this a screen play of “give us back Barrabas”?
Definitely, an introspection is required of you. Obviously, somewhere along your political journey you lost focus. As a sitting member in parliament, your obnoxious behavior was left to be desired. I am sure, such behavior did not sit too well with your fellow constituents.
Secondly, the disrespect of how you communicated to the PM in the sacred house of parliament was another area of concern and certainly uncalled for. Respect is paramount. There is always a time a place for everything.
Another area that peaked some interest was your frequency of going abroad and using a narrative that you are promoting and doing some studies as to how Antigua’s carnival can be improved but in reality you were partying & frolicing in other jurisdictions .
It is evident that while you were overseas having such frolic & fun, Senator Dwayne George, was smartly spending quality time in Antigua, looking after the businesses of the SMS constituents.
Interestingly, it seems to me that the SMS constituents realized that the love that you should have for the constituency was not there but it was a love for self & self enticement. Even your empty promises were like a comfort to a fool.
This election should be a wake up call for you and your colleagues in UPP. I am hoping that Dwayne George has not ended your political career. Perhaps you might be appointed as a senator.
Remember Shugy, being humble & respectful is the key that will get you to places along with the thought that charity always begins at home.
You can’t blame no one else but yourself for your loss. I do hope you will learn by your mistake.
Alex

I can no longer stay silent about what I see happening in Antigua. As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” The truth is that money swayed this election. Hundreds of thousands of dollars were handed out, and too many lives depend on this financial influence. Those who stay silent about corruption are just as guilty as those who commit it. The people know the truth, and the truth must be heard.
The same thing goes for Serpent. Both had so much potential but ended up being such disappointments. Serpent knew he wasn’t going to win a second term and chose not to run again, but Shugy, clearly delusional, had zero clue that his time was long over.
Based on the arguments that are put forward for the ABLP win in the 2026 elections, are those the same arguments that caused the UPP to almost win in 2023 and the ABLP lose. Both sides from what I have heard try to entice workers, it is just that generally the ABLP has deeper pockets. The UPP coming close in 2023 was due to Covid and other factors working in their favour. Even then they could not cross the line and it was money from Asot that helped them.
WINKKUP PASTOR can spend all his time “studying carnival” now.
Too arrogant, too cocky, too boastful, too full of self
Totally agree with your sentiments @Blame.
However, may I add that for such a God fearing country as ours, I’m at a complete loss as to why the silence from our Clerics, Clergy and Pastors on these immoral financial inducements by the ABLP.
Like you, I also worry about where we’re headed with this money for votes manipulation?
It doesn’t bode well for the future.
I hate to use the word corruption, but if it swims like a duck, walks like a duck and looks like a duck, well…
