The man alleged to have been the driver of the vehicle that collided with four pedal cyclists on Sir George Walter Highway has been charged.
On Wednesday the police arrested and charged 39yrs old Kennyatta Benjamin of Union Road, Hatton for Dangerous Driving.
The incident occoured on Sunday 8 May, which resulted in three of the cyclists ending up at the hospital for medical treatment.
Cyclist, Andrè Simon still remains at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center receiving medical attention.
Meantime Andre’s sister Beatrice Simon has shared how people can communicate with Andre.
She said “Many family and friends would like to share their love and well wishes for Andre K Simon.
Since it is not feasible to visit in person, we created a way that you can connect to him.
We also believe that he can hear what’s going on around him so we’ve dedicated a phone that will allow you to send voice notes to him.
We will then play them for him at the earliest possible time.

Why is it that up until today the police cannot bring closure to the drive by murder of Alicia Hughes of New Winthropes? The driver a well-known owner of a gym still walks free, and the children of Alicia cannot get justice. And not a drum is heard from anyone. Not the so-called concerned citizen like Jacqui Quin and her group. Not from any of the NGO’s or the political parties, and certainly not a word from the police hierarchy who it is alleged is assisting with sweeping the case under the carpet. I will not stop writing about this until justice is done. Young Mr. Ryan should have his day in court and account for this accident or crime.

Speaking of the late Customs Officer,Nigel Christian. He was gun down in cold blood.His Mother said,there were 4 men that took him from her home.However,why are there only 3 men in Custody since that time.What has happen to the fourth man? Did he vanish into the thin Antigua air? Did he swim out into the Atlantic Ocean and never to be seen again? Where the hell is that 4th Person? Time for that person to be arrested and be charged as the other three in Custody.

Police & Magistrates: Please hold Mr Kennyatta Benjamin without bail until Andre Simon returns to consciousness and his state can be determined. All Strength & persistence to his medical team, family & friends as we all wish his full recovery.
I’m fearful the dangerous driving charge may be expedited, with a fine – no jail time (which would be outrageous as 4 athletes were mown down) and not sure if this driver can then be charged with any more serious crimes regarding the same case, should the need arise.
Please could a genuine Antiguan lawyer give clarity on this.
