Anthony Alex Brown, 23, of Lauderdale Lakes, was charged with one count of a lewd and lascivious act against a victim aged 12 to 16 years old.
According to a report in the Sun Sentinel newspaper, the minor gave birth to a boy on January 26.
In addition to being released on bond, Brown was instructed by a judge to surrender his Jamaican passport.
Allegations are that the complainant’s mother contacted Lauderhill Police in June 2021 to have Brown arrested after she found out her daughter was seven weeks pregnant following a hospital visit.
As part of their investigations, the police found WhatsApp messages in the teenager’s phone between herself and the Jamaican, spanning the period February to June 2021.
The arrest warrant disclosed that in one of the messages the teen admitted to being pregnant to Brown, who allegedly told her that her mother would kill her if she had the baby as she indicated in a prior message.
Brown had also threatened to “shoot” if the girl told anyone about their relationship in a WhatsApp message in May last year.
The Jamaican, who is a hotel worker in Florida, was arrested on Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale and charged with the offences stemming from the illicit relationship. CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATSAPP GROUP
