Irma Update – moving away from Antigua; Barbuda still feeling the brunt

The Antigua Met Office, in a tweet at approximately 4:26 AM on Wednesday, declared that the worst was over for Antigua as Hurricane Irma moved further north. The eye at that time was over 40 miles north of Antigua though part of the eye was still over Barbuda. Both islands remain under a Hurricane warning.

The latest 2 AM update from the NOAA Hurricane Centre reported that Hurricane Irma is located 17.7N 61.8W. Maximum sustained winds remain at 185 MPH travelling WNW at 15MP.
