Lamin Newton has thanked supporters after losing his bid in the general election, expressing gratitude to those who backed his campaign.
In a statement, Mr Newton said he was “truly grateful” to the 1,239 people who placed their trust in him, despite the outcome not going in his favour.

He acknowledged the support, encouragement and belief shown throughout the campaign, adding that it meant “more than words can express”.
Mr Newton also signalled his intention to remain active, stressing that his work and commitment to the constituency of All Saints East and St Luke (ASESL) would continue.
“This is not the end,” he said, noting that his connection with constituents would remain strong beyond the election.
The result forms part of a wider electoral contest across Antigua and Barbuda, with several closely watched races shaping the political landscape.

Mr Lamin, you have done well. Congratulations despite the outcome
You were sacrificed. Gaston Browne wants Pringle in the opposition, not Richard Lewis. He threw all the money into Rural West on Wednesday and Thursday. He needed that seat badly.
But it’s OK. You will still represent us in the Senate.
Still scratching my head why UPP always leave their supporters unprotected on the day before elections. That is when ALP works magic. Look ah money inna Grays Farm yesterday, Jack. Who nuh get ah who nuh want.
Lamin you did well
You did well, you almost got him. Old road save he skin.
Lamin did not win a primary to run in that constituency. The PM said they did a poll. So all I can say the poll was wrong. To beat Pringle you have to be one of them. And you have to be a people’s person. For those who know Lamin from the ministry of agriculture and as chairman of CMC and Free Trade Zone they know his arrogance and authoritarian character. In short, he is not a people’s man.
