Master Carlos Cameron Michel recently advised both parties to settle or proceed to trial. Browne alleges defamation in the song’s lyrics, seeking damages and an injunction.

The case, attracting media attention, awaits a trial if the settlement fails.

Phillip denies defamation, arguing against Browne’s claims in her song and the lawsuit’s amendments.

    • What ya mouth & watch wa u say or else you may have to pay or sit behind jail bars for um……

  1. One has to wonder how many lawsuits GB has going on. He reminds me of Trump more each day. Wait until the truth is exposed about IF Antigua and GBC. We might see charges against him that exceeds Trumps 96 indictments.

  2. When Calypsonians lose the right to use puns and innuendos, the art form will die a natural death. Never before have we witnessed any situation where politicians want to sue calypsonians for their creative artistry in the form of song. Today’s politicians are too thin skinned.

    • @Audley Phillip…. The use of puns and innuendos is not the issue here. It is the use of LIES that defame a person’s character that is in question.

We have “never witnessed any situation where politicians want to sue calypsonians for their creative artistry in the form of song” because the calypsonians of yesteryear did not resort to LIES and character assassination. They were much more crafty with their use of language. However, since the advent of the “talk-as-you-like” culture and “call-dem-name-loud” fad, calypsonians have been resorting to “nastiness” and are finding themselves holding the “shitty” end of the nasty stick.

      • well Said Was an’ Basin. Audley knows very well what the issue here is. I has been given numerous opportunities to retract her statement. But she has been encourage not to do so. And since she wants the case to drop without retracting her statements, she will have the face the music and sorry for her but she alone will face the judge and none of them that are encouraging her will be there to lend a hand. And so she will be the example set for all Calypsonians, that you cannot defame people in a song. Kin Short Shirt never called names, although you know who he was talking about. But Ivena was encourage to call names hoping it would have cause people to vote against Gasten Browne in the election the next year. I don’t feel sorry for her and the PM shouldn’t either. A simple retraction of the statements made will make the case go away.

    • He going after the Calypsonians, bwoi Gaston Browne will be going for comedians next!

Not to worry though, because meanwhile the economy is tanking, the “sword of Damocles” is hanging over the head of the Prime Minister.

Sorry ’bout dat Gastonites and ABLP acolyte supporters, only the UPP understand what I’m alluding to 😁

  3. This isn’t Journalism, it’s about the freedom of ‘Creative Expression.’ Do we really think that all content delivered by Comedians are truthful and factual…as long as the message is conveyed or understood by the audience…then that’s all that really matters. Mudslinging is the game of Politics.

  4. I liked that song:NASTINESS.The truth is hard to hear. Gaston Browne, what has become of that Charity known as Share,Inc.Does your wife still manages that Charity.Could you tell me and only me.How many female Entrepreneurs did Share,Inc.helped.What was done with the money given to Share by Foreign Investors? Is your wife still on West Indies Oil Board? If so,why? There should be a law in Antigua and Barbuda.Once you are a Member of Cabinet. You should divests yourself from all Boards and personal businesses.Put them into a blind trust. For if you do not,you could end up in deep dung.

  5. It is important to raise our level of discourse and how we use our talent and gifts to drive home a message or point. Queen Ivina would do well to take a page out of our own Sir King Shortshirt and Trinidadian the Mighty Chalkdust to improve her on her lyrics. She has not been heard from as one of our top female calypsonians. She seems to have gone silent. Just because Prime Minister Browne is a politician does not give any person to disrespect him or the office that he holds. And so the courts will decide this and court houses can wake you up in milliseconds as to your realities and what is permissable legally.

  6. @Sharon Patriot Lycorish. If you suggest doing something and after a period of time I believed you did what you suggested, how is that a lie? Anyway that’s all I would say about this for now but I hope he loses eventually.

  7. What ya mouth & watch wa u say or else you may have to pay or sit behind jail bars for um……

  8. We need to worry about tourist coming off ships and planes and taking pictures of dirty smelly St. John’s and having to go to the bushes to relieve themselves, what a shame for an ECONOMIC POWERHOUSE…

  9. Did not know tat this was still in court. It is so sad that we have a prime minister who enjoys degrading others but hates when people do the same to him. We have a thin skin prime minister with a nasty mouth. And that is a fact. Grow some balls man and eat what you dish out.

  10. Pearl Quin William is next. Since she didn’t feel she should retract and apologize for her defaming placard she will have to face the music in court. And Shuggy asking to be sued will soon folliow.

    • Says the man who still thinks Gaston Browne is on a par with Jesus’ washing of feet, because Gassssston collected garbage in Antigua earlier this year.

      GLAD YOU’RE BACK SIDEY👍🏾

Don’t hide yourself away again …
