The government is set to choose among three firms for implementing Electronic Embarkation/Disembarkation (ED) Cards, with a final decision expected soon. Technology Minister Melford Nicholas stated that the Ministry of Information Technology will conduct a comparative review and report to the Cabinet within the next week. Cabinet has reviewed proposals from three firms, each focusing on enhanced marketing, research, and security features, alongside representatives from Customs, Immigration, Inland Revenue, Tourism, and Finance. With a December 31 deadline, a decision is likely by month’s end. Several Caribbean nations, including the Virgin Islands and Dominica, recently launched their ED systems, joining Aruba, Barbados, and others, while Turks and Caicos and Trinidad and Tobago are preparing theirs.
