New ABLP Candidate Plans Town Halls and Open-Door Office for St. George Constituents
Freeland promises greater accessibility and dialogue through “Community Connect” initiative
Barnes Hill, Antigua – March 27, 2025
Michael Freeland, the newly confirmed Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate for the St. George constituency, has pledged to bring a new level of accessibility and engagement to his campaign and future representation.
Speaking at a lively thank-you rally in Barnes Hill on Wednesday night, Freeland announced plans to launch a community outreach programme called “Community Connect”, promising the first town hall meeting within the next three weeks.
“We have lots of things to discuss and lots of work to do,” he told supporters. “Now is the time for us to act.”
Freeland also committed to opening a constituency branch office in the coming week. He said the office will operate with dedicated hours for residents to meet with him directly, share their concerns, and help shape future plans for the area.
“By next week, I will be in my office to meet and greet every one of you—hear your stories, hear your frustration—because that is the job: to serve you, the people,” Freeland said to applause.
The initiative marks a key shift in approach, emphasizing transparency and consistent dialogue between the candidate and constituents. Freeland, who grew up in the area, said the idea for open office hours and regular town halls came directly from feedback he received while developing his community-driven manifesto.
“I can’t do the things I want to do without the people’s buy-in,” he said. “You’ve bought in, and you’ve said this is a solid promise.”
Freeland’s pledge comes amid a broader push by the ABLP to energize its base with younger, locally rooted candidates who prioritize direct communication with constituents.
The rally also featured appearances by senior ABLP officials and fellow candidates, with Freeland stressing party unity and the strength of the ABLP team heading into the next general election.
Supporters welcomed the candidate’s announcement, with many expressing hope that the promised town halls and open-door policy will result in more responsive and people-centered governance in St. George.

At your first Town Hall meeting I will want a clearer explanation of our money from the Port or else I will not be voting we need honest people representing us that’s why my choice was Mr. Joel Rayne
“According to the testimony of the FBI agent, “during the same period”, Ashe sent the then Prime Minister (Spencer) approximately US$170,000”
“Giving evidence in the case, an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had earlier identified connections between the several entities and members of the government of the United Progressive Party. Among the statements made by the FBI agent in a sworn deposition is that, on June 8th, 2014, Ashe told a representative of one of the entities that he is “going to Antigua on Thursday to vote and would need to take something for the PM. Hope I can have the $26 K in cash before then”. Here is a breakdown of SOME of the BRIBERY MONIES UPP GOT:
$26 K
US$300,000,
US$100,000
US$170,000
etc, etc, etc, etc
Freeland will promise heaven on earth for now then it will be pure hell, I need a show of hands to see who thinks this man is trustworthy, selecting him was a monumental error
Is this the candidate that some kind of shenanigans came up concerning money missing?
Asking for a friend?
I feel shame is missing from the little paradise call antigua🤔
Satan cannot correct sin.
Hypocrisy, greed, and selfishnessbare brothers.
There has been a opposition parliamentary representative since 2022.
Have you consulted or dialogued with him on any issue relative to the constituency?
If no does it mean that the parliamentary representative has been doing a good job?
If yes when and where and what was the focus of your meetings?
If yes has there been improvement since you dialogued with him?
What is the reason for your entry into politics?
If you join a gang known to be vicious, thieves and disruptive can you from in the group call on the people to be decent and law abiding?
I rememebr what your father was famous for. You have followed in his footsteps. Do you recall your desire to contest the elections for labour party in St Johns Rural East?
Why did you shelve those plans?
Between then and now have you met with the people to dicuss any community issue in St Johns Rural East or St George?
Why not?
Show me your friend and I will tell you your identity. You have joined a cabal of corrupt men. You are not clean.
By the way how about the auction money?
CONGRATULATIONS Michael Freeland!!! The people of St. George deserve proper REPRESENTATION! A representative who will ACTUALLY DEBATE in Parliament and not run up them mouth on radio and Facebook.
All the best MP in waiting Freeland.
One thief endorsing another. The constituents should demand answers to the missing $100,000.00
It wasn’t $100,000.00….see *SOME* of the amount below based on FBI investigation:
“Earlier, in an email dated July 26th 2012 to other defendants, Ashe asked for US$300,000, stating that “these funds were intended as a show of good faith” to allow him “to start the conversation” with his interlocutors in Antigua. The FBI agent revealed in his deposition that “approximately US$100,000 was sent to the then Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer in Antigua shortly after Ashe received the requested US$300,000.”
@ Truth Be Told
Are you forgetting Dr Mansoor who was the ring leader and now a prominent member of the TIEFING CABRAL called the ABLP?
Where are the honest people in government- which government- which political party. Antiguans continue to reject honest, hardworking, dedicated, community oriented people for opportunistic people. Both ABLP and UPP parties are full of those.
I honestly thought Shugy was going to be that change. He had everything going for him. APLP used every conceivable method to get rid of him and the people stood strong with him. Today he is a big disappointment. Forgetting the simple little things. It doesn’t take millions to keep the heart of a people that were 100% behind you together. So with all the unfinished infrastructure work that was left in his constituency, he is still falling and could easily loose the next election. Last evening he did not show up at UPP come back meeting. Yet he could show up for Trinidad Carnival.
Serpent won and probably had the most votes on the opposition bench. To date he has not lived up to expectations as well. Unless he doesn’t use the time left wisely and regain the grounds he is gone.
Richard Lewis was my choice for the leader of the opposition. Today I have a change of heart. He seems selfish and power hungry. Every time he opens his mouth, it’s not to advance his party cause but his own. Last night he missed the opportunity to regain some ground, by not showing up amidst the ALpha Nero scandal. He continues to play a major part in the weakening of the UPP party and its chance despite APLP corruption allegations. Gaston the political Animal is going after that seat full steam. His opponent is loved by the leadership of the ABLP. So unless Richard comes with a united UPP platform his is gone.
So after the UPP implosion and defection of a number of its top brass , the ABLP has solidified itself and strengthened itself into a more formidable political party grooming a slate of young, charismatic, handsome, beautiful intelligent , qualified and appealing candidates.
So let us say for example that the ALPHA NERO scandal proves to go against Gaston Brown. All that the ABLP has to do is change the leader and continue on its course.
Even in the midst of these opportunities and coming so close to victory the UPP just cannot seem to get it acts together. Last evening Former PM Spencer made a unity call. Trevor Walker today made a Unity call. Sounds like these cries being falling on deaf ears.
TRUTH BE TOLD, I do not care about Baldwin Spencer, that’s UPP business I am concerned about ABLP business I am not voting for skullduggery maybe that’s what you want in ABLP but not me for sure, it’s voters like you that keep us mired in the political cesspit
Antigua politics just tink and dutty, look what Gaston has brought Antigua to, this started when he went viciously after Lester Bird to secure the leadership of the party, remember all the names he called Lester, wow! This dude is the devil incarnate, do you people think these murders, disappearances, shootings and thiefings are accidents, no man, the is at work, only the people can stem the tide
Truth Be Told: please don’t get this thing skewed. I know that you are a member of the SPIN Clan but try and muster a little bit of honesty. This $100,000.00 I’m referring to is that which dropped out of the vehicle after it was in the possession of the new St. George caretaker who has answered the call to COME RAID.
correction,: no man the devil is at work, only the people can stem the tide
The car door opens and the money ran away. Why did the money run away? Has the money been found ?
