Francis says she has already located 250 beaches on Antigua

Joshuanette Francis, founder of Good Humans, has set out on a mission to discover all 365 beaches on the island. At 24, she was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis, and her doctors suggested low-impact exercises, including swimming.

Francis says that if she has to swim, she is going to take a dip in all 365 beaches.

Her diagnosis is not keeping her back, and it has inspired her quest. Francis says she has done a tour of the island and, so far, has located 250 beaches.

The mission, now, is to visit all of them, she says – and, in the process, she hopes she will stumble upon the others that make up the 365. She notes, however, that many of the areas that locals classify as beaches actually are not.

While the beaches visited so far were very beautiful and serene, Francis says that a few – about 30 per cent of them – are not in the best state and require a bit of cleaning.

She says that people should be more responsible about disposing of their waste when using the beach. To this end, she suggests they carry along garbage bags or other receptacles that can hold waste and then take their trash back home with them.

She warns that leaving unsecured garbage on the beach – where it can get into the water – could have dire consequences on the environment and marine life.

According to Francis, even on the island’s hiking trails, there is a proliferation of garbage, which she says is despicable

  1. lmfao, i want a documented proof showing where each beach is and how to access these beaches cause i have been to some that isnt named sure but have yet to reach or considered outside of a 100 unless you wanna use for example valley church beach and count that entire section as 10 beaches or some nonsense like that

  2. You really don’t have to comment on everything. Just whistle if you don’t have anything to say.

  3. @Salty
Francis is on a mission, along the way she has commented on the garbage on the beaches. Most likely the dirty beaches are those used by the public rather than hotel beaches.

While hotel owners has no right to deny the public access to beaches, consider the fact that many times the garbage left behind is among their concerns

Presumably Francis will graphically illustrate where each beach is located, it’s quality and accessibility

When she announces her final findings, we’ll have a chance to examine and debate her methods (it’s like a research project).

  4. Salty for no reason ?
Obviously seeking attention which I gladly will give to you. Nobody can be so demented and hate themselves that much that they would willingly attack someone for trying to go on a life restoring mission. Stfu and go find something else to elevate your dopamine levels.

While Francis is pursuing her mission she has highlighted an issue which is compelling. “Dirty Beaches”

I certainly wish she finds 365 beaches irregardless of their conditions.

Can you imagine the Public Relations fallout from a class action lawsuit against Antigua and Barbuda for fraudulent advertising about 365 beaches?

Typically, where the beaches is the main attraction that drives the tourism economy, the Government issues daily water quality.

  6. It would be nice if volunteers could clean up the beaches periodically to help the environment or businesses Gould offer gift to volunteers to clean up.. making signs just some thoughts

  7. Would love the names of the 250 beaches located so far cause I’m also trying to find out the names of all 365/6 that we have. I haven’t reached 100 yet tho but I’m still trying.

  8. What is the legal or international definition of a beach?

When does a beach ends? Relevant to determine when a new one begins.

    • Yes, there can be several numbers of beaches on a continuous coastline. A continuous coastline can have multiple distinct sections or areas where the land meets the ocean, each with its own characteristics and features that define it as a beach. These sections can vary in terms of their sediment composition, slope, wave action, and other factors, resulting in different types of beaches along the coastline.

For example, there could be sandy beaches, rocky beaches, pebble beaches, or even beaches with unique formations such as cliffs or dunes. These distinct sections may have different names or be referred to as separate beaches, even though they are part of the same continuous coastline.

  9. Dear Ms. Francis,
    Keep on, keeping On!!
One would hope you actions would serve as a motivation to others to organize beach cleanups.

    • Dear Ms Francis,
I commend you highly for this great initiative! There will always be haters and detractors who will try to minimize your efforts, while they sit aside and look. I look forward to the completion of your project.
      Much success!

    • Very very true @ Blue Ivy.

I watched a programme about the yachting community in Antigua (Below Deck I believe), and few of the beaches could only be accessible by boat/yacht.

  10. Salty, your nescience is showing. The young lady set herself a task that would, not only benefit her, but the rest of us. The jumble of nonsense you took time out of your day to type, shows your shortcomings in many ways. Challenge yourself to do better!

Joshuanette, we are proud of the mission you are undertaking and I hope your therapeutic swimming really helps ease your symptoms.

    • I am proud of you Ms Francis. Ignore the negativity comments and continue to make history. As you continue on your journey in locating the beaches, please take pictures and document your findings each day.
The people with the negative comments get up off your high horse and assist Ms Francis in finding these beaches and make history for your next generation. History is one of the elements that drives an economy.

  11. Unfortunately, she’s not going to find them all. Some are gone forever, eg: Fibrey beach at the bottom of Tanner St which has been backfilled and is now a parking lot. Perry Bay beach is gone, Wash n’ Basin at bottom of Dickenson Bay St, gone forever.

  12. Many Antiguans have no pride in our country. They fling our garbage out the windows just so. The streets and lands a littered with plastic, glass and whatever they throw wherever they happen to be. Don’t talk about the beaches. Worse yet. Makes me wonder if they throw their shit anywhere in the house they happen to.

Wutless narsy don’t give a shit people about our country. No pride tall.

  13. This thing about 365 beaches was coined by i believe Mr. Scholl way back in 1957 when we 1st ventured into the tourism industry.
    Good on you
Ms. Francis for undertaking this project. Hope it helps greatly to alleviate your medical Condition.
Unfortunately, you won’t fined no 365 beaches, it’s just a very successful advertising slogan…….

  14. Antiguans and Barbudans should take pride in the 365 beaches in our islands. The government should place garbage bins at ten feet apart so that tourists, and natives disposed their waste.
