The Antigua and Barbuda Department of Environment within the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, has released the State of the Environment Report 2021 for public review and comment. The Report, which is mandated by the Environmental Protection and Management Act (2019), provides information about environmental and social conditions around Antigua and Barbuda, as well as trends and pressures for the country and the surrounding seas.

This will be the first State of the Environment Report published under the new Act.

The public is invited to review and comment on the State of the Environment Report, which can be found at https://www.environment.gov.ag/news-events#news/article/114. Individuals can also come into the Department of Environment office at #1 Victoria Park, Botanical Gardens, where they can access a hard copy of the report and make comments.

The deadline for comments is August 13, 2021.

The public review and comment process forms an important step in engagement with the public on environmental issues.

The public is also invited to a national consultation on the State of Environment Report, which will be held on Wednesday 11 August at 5:30 pm via the Department of Environment’s Facebook Page and the Zoom platform. The national consultation is being held virtually due to Covid-19 concerns.
