Police Commissioner, Mr. Atlee Rodney and his senior administration on Tuesday met with the newly elected executive members of the Police Welfare Association, following their recently concluded general elections.
Commissioner Rodney took the opportunity to extend congratulations to the executive and encouraged them to always strive to give their best to those they are called upon to serve. He also reminded them of the role of the Police Welfare Association and the principles that govern the association. The commissioner further pledged his commitment, and that of his senior administration to work with the new executive in the best interest of the police organization.
Now newly elected chairman of the Police Welfare Association, Corporal Marylyn Harris, gave the assurance that the new executive will work along with the police administration and the government of Antigua and Barbuda to bring about positive and meaningful changes within the police force.
The new executive now comprises of:
Corporal Marilyn Harris-Chairman
Sergeant Bernita Lawrence- 1st Vice Chairman with responsibilities to the Regular Police
Corporal Sylvester George- 2nd Vice Chairman with responsibilities to the Fire Department and appointed Treasurer
Constable Julian DeCastro- Assistant Treasurer
Constable Corinthea Nicholas was appointed as Secretary\Office Administrator; while Constable Stefan Jacobs, who currently resides and is stationed at Barbuda Police Station, will be the representative to Barbuda Affairs, and also assistant secretary.
The Police Welfare Association General Elections were held on Wednesday 6th October 2021. Members were given an opportunity to cast their votes at one of the five polling stations set up at St. Johns, Parham, Johnson’ Point, All Saints, and Barbuda Police Stations. This process takes place biennially, in accordance with the Police Act, Chapter 330, sections 62 and 63.
The association was established within the police force for the purpose of enabling Inspectors, subordinate police officers, and constables to consider and bring to the notice of the Commissioner of Police and the Minister, matters affecting their general welfare and efficiency.
The outgoing chairman of the PWA is Sergeant Roosevelt Browne.

Commissioner Rodney: You need to reign in your officers who patronise a popular bar in Browns Avenue…morning, noon and night.
The bar remains open every day even after 8 pm and most of the visitors are police officers.
I drive through the area every day because I have to drop my child by her babysitter. This bar is open publicly and police officers in plain clothes are always there drinking.
When will the laws of this nation apply to all citizens and not just the poor, not-well connected people get victimized and taken before the courts?
Mr. Rodney: Do your job and discipline your officers.
Why don’t you “watch and pray” and do YOUR job instead of telling the Commissioner how to do his?

Alot of RPFAB officers are low life drunks so some bars will get the blind eye treatment
They say in every organizations you have the good and you have the bad, that is why they have disciplinary bodies,so they are caught making the law, they will be discipline…
I know the police force are there to uphold law and order, especially when given instructions by the government….
I always hear the saying in Antigua anything goes…
I hope the commissioner of police will listen to all the concern citizens,so we can have a better Antigua and Barbuda…
