Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ministers responsible for the environment and sustainable development held deliberations on a number of critical matters on 30 April in Antigua and Barbuda.

The Ministers met for the 118th Special Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED).

Sir Molwyn Joseph, Minister of Health, Wellness, Environment and Civil Service Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda, chaired the one-day meeting.

At the business session, the Ministers continued the discourse on environmental and natural resources governance, and sustainable ocean-based economic development.

They also deliberated on other subject areas including strengthening biodiversity management, and the Community’s participation in upcoming meetings of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

  1. Honestly, these kinds of meetings should happen more often, and not just when it’s convenient.

  2. The next generation deserves a cleaner, safer region. I am going to hold these leaders to their word.

  3. I’d love to know if they talked about the rising sea levels. That’s already hitting us hard.
