Real News Antigua: As investigations continue into the recent armed robbery at the CLC&S Superette in Bethesda, it appears that a breakthrough has been made as the vehicle transporting the bandits has been located.

A source says that several police officers and personnel from the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) undertook a joint mobile patrol at a location in Bethesda, where their search was concentrated on the suspects and the vehicle.

Reportedly, during the operation, a silver Toyota Noah motor van, C22220 – resembling the motor van that was involved in the aggravated robbery on January 18 – was found concealed behind the Bethesda Methodist Church.

Further reports say the vehicle was taken into custody and moved to Police Headquarters.

Meanwhile, the Police continue to hunt for the four gunmen who were involved in the robbery, during which shots were fired, although no one injured.

A mother and daughter were assaulted in the incident and money was stolen from the cash register, as well as from the women’s handbags, amounting to over $1,400.

The brazen hold-up, which occurred at about 4:15 p.m., not only sent shockwaves throughout the normally peaceful community, but traumatized the 62-year-old All Saints owner and her 47-year-old daughter.

  1. What’s the break through? I guess you will be looking for fingerprints and then go through your large fingerprint database, then BAM.

  2. Cutie and Commissioner Rodney must go. They have neither a plan nor serious commitment to deal with these problems. Cutie’s response is flowery words and the Commissioner is hardly ever in Antigua. He is always travelling like Telemaque who now has a 100 million dollar port with all the same inefficiencies. Everything in this country changes for the worse.

    • Oops! Commissioner has to go overseas at his offshore bank accounts them politicians and business like PLH in Barbuda fulling up, they even house the police to chase barbudans off the beach and upkeep buffer zone for white section and black section, as soon as whitey call the police on barbudans they come with guns blazing. It is the police that’s maintaining Gaston in power, as these commissioner comes from foreign and are poor, so gifts will make them bend the law for politicians.

  3. We all at risk of being a victim of crime. The police and the legal system is useless at this point. Look like we are on our own. I can recalled a small business owner was seriously assulted in her own home and she even had all the evidence. The police and the court failed her and criminals are back on street to rob and victamised other people.

  4. What I don’t like is that the victim is scandalized, wherein their confidential and personal information is broadcast, like their age, if they are a license firearm holder and all of that, but why? I haven’t seen it no where else, the news reporter have got to stop trashing the victim publicizing their confidential information.
