REAL NEWS: Concerns are being expressed that private information could have fallen into the wrong hands after the AIDS Secretariat building was broken into last week.
REAL News understands that Delcora Williams, the AIDS Programme Manager, reported the matter to the Police after discovering that the Long Street building had been burglarized.
Reports say the intruder made off with a black HP laptop computer and two flash drives.
Investigations revealed that entry to the building was forced. The perpetrator reportedly pried open a western window to enter and steal the items and apparently exited the same way.
The Police conducted a search of the immediate surroundings for the stolen items, but without success.
Residents are hoping they do not contain information about clients’ medical status that could be made public.
This offence reportedly occurred sometime between 5 p.m. on May 25 and 6:45 a.m.on May 26.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, the Police are investigating a break-in at a cook shop in the vicinity of the Ottos Comprehensive School.
In this instance, as well, the intruder gained access by using force to pry off a piece of plywood on the western side of the building.
After ransacking the shop and stealing a quantity of snacks, the perpetrator made good his escape through a southern window.
Officers carried out a search nearby for the stolen goods; however, nothing was found.
This offence reportedly occurred sometime between 12:30 p.m. on May 25 and 6:55 a.m. on May 26.

People who are gainfully employed don’t have time to break into people’s property. Hungry people will do anything to survive. However, this does not make it right to steal people’s property.
That Building should have been alarmed as a means of security.There should be cameras and alarm systems on all Government owned and operated Buildings in Antigua and Barbuda.That is a dangerous thing to happen.Now it would appear as if persons personal information are in the wrong hands.
