Antigua’s New 47MW LNG Power Plant Faces Challenges During Testing

0

Testing is ongoing for the 47-megawatt LNG power plant built by Antigua Power Company Ltd. in partnership with Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA).

APUA is collaborating with APCL to optimize commissioning for the 5-engine plant.

A recent outage, caused by a mechanical failure during a performance test, revealed a capacity gap.

Further tests are expected until November 24, 2023, with potential for power outages.

The plant, transitioning from diesel to regasified LNG, aims for a 40% carbon reduction, aligning with emissions reduction goals.

Its addition enhances generation capacity, ensuring consistent electricity delivery and supporting future Renewable Energy Solutions.
