Prime Minister Gaston Browne will address the nation on Tuesday at 7 p.m. on television, following meetings with the police hierarchy and Public Safety Minister Sir Steadroy Benjamin on Monday.

He is expected to address broad strategies on crime fighting.

Antigua and Barbuda has recorded 10 murders so far for the year with 3 of those murders being in the month of August.

Other gun crimes have become more frequent and more brazen. CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATS APP GROUP

  1. What is he going to say on the crime issue? He has lost his bearing a very long time ago. The intro is going to be short and meaningless and then a full force attack. Count the times when he mentioned UPP, THE FORMER ADMINISTRATION and HAROLD LOVELL. He’s as clueless as a Caterpillar Cocoon.

  2. God let this man say and will do the right things after consulting with experts in the fields. Please Lord. And who he spoke with at that meeting is not nearly sufficient for him to be able to speak about crime strategies and providing adequate assurance of safety to the nation from new advanced and well resesrched crime prevention strategies.

Do not say anything at this time without proper consultation. PLEASE TELL THE PRIME MINISTER THIS.

  3. Alot of the youths are caught up in drugs these days, from since the decriminalization of Marijuana I have seen a drastic change in the youths behavior, I don’t know if the are mixing it with something ,but they seem to be extra aggressive. The children need proper guidance from parents and from the community. We need to implement alot of social programs to get the youths involve early and and be more proactive.
Most of all we need divine intervention.

  4. I will reserve judgement until I hear what Prime Minister Gaston Browne have to say on this important topic on the rising crime rates in Antigua.

    Here’s what I’m hoping for:

    1. The PM allows the business community to get fast-tracked to gun licences to protect themselves, their employees and families

    2. 24 hour police patrols. Policing has never been a 9 to 5 job

    3. A temporary curfew and strict measures in place until our streets have been made safe

    4. Ban face coverings and thick hoods in this hot climate. 9 times out of 10 those wearing them are up to no good

    5. Create neighbourhood watch schemes that will alert the rest of us of any suspicious behaviours or nefarious activities

    6. More clarification on protecting our borders

    7. Remove those who cannot do their jobs – past and present

    8. Stronger prison sentences, and cut the waiting lists on ongoing court cases

    9. More of a police presence on our streets and rural areas/communities

    10. The employment of more police women in dealing with females concerning domestic abuse and rape cases

Just a few ideas that will go a long way in reassuring the citizens of Antigua & Barbuda that the Prime Minister REALLY means business.

NO NAME CALLING, NO WHATABOUTERY OR EQUATING CRIME STATES WITH OTHER CARIBBEAN COUNTRIES PRIME MINISTER …

  5. Let’s hope, that this speech on crime is like a #eulogy. A eulogy for our culture because our Culture is DEAD! DEAD! DEAD! TIFF TONE DEAD, and the perps are the #poli_☠️_TRICK_🦨_STARS aka politicians acting like they’re starring in “Tales From The Crypt!”

So, Mr. PM, please be humble, cry for Our #Dead_Culture. Those tears will help soothe a grieving, fearful, scared Nation, and show that you are not just caring because, the victims of these heinous crimes are close to home, i.e. The Haunted Nugent House!

By the way, why wasn’t Chet Greene chosen to present his speech on serious crimes?
It appears, through the vibes of the ether, the rattling bones of #Mami_Wata and #Papa_Elegba, that #Chets_Kru is being [targeted], by hit squads, you think?
The dry bones are asking, is a message being sent to Chet to stay away from the Leadership position?

    Politicks is a #Blood_Sport!
    Politicians are #Blood_Suckers!

Ah wah ah guarne, wid dis #Ya_Sow_So?

  6. Mr. PM I will be listening to you with a keen ear as you address the nation the crimes & violence presently taking place in our beautiful paradise.

I do hope during your narration, you indicate clearly there should be no mercy for any of these criminals. Hence it will not be business as usual.

At the sametime it would be pleasing to ones ears to hear the head of our military address the nation about their involvement towards assisting to bring back this country to a peaceful state from the criminals.
